Is Maci Bookout getting a divorce? 'Teen Mom OG' star's love life has seen a series of ups and downs
When fans were first introduced to Maci Bookout in 2009, she was a young teen mom who was featured on MTV's '16 and Pregnant'. Maci seemed like a bright, young girl, with her future ahead of her, till she found out she was pregnant with her then-boyfriend and later ex-fiancé, Ryan Edwards.
Now, at age 29, Bookout has come a long way. She is an established TV personality, public speaker and author with a sizeable net worth. Apart from her ongoing reality TV appearances, she's written three books — 'Bulletproof' in 2015, 'I Wasn't Born Bulletproof: Lessons I've Learned (So You Don't Have To)' in 2017, and the most recent one, 'The Battle Upstairs: Poetry Book' in 2020. Her written work often talks about her struggles of being a mom at the tender age of 16, her turbulent love life and relationship with the father of her first child and her battle with PCOS. She hasn't let adversity get in the way of her dreams. She has on to star in multiple spinoffs of the 'Teen Mom' franchise, including the latest season of the series.
As per MTV, in this season, "A pandemic can't keep Amber, Catelynn, Cheyenne, Maci and Mackenzie from making major moves in their lives, as the moms continue to share their ups and downs and put their families first."
However, not too long ago, there were multiple rumors about her life love once again, where it's said that she and her husband, Taylor McKinney, are headed for a divorce. Heavy reported in December 2020 that Bookout took to her Instagram to post stories regarding an article that mentions her talking about her 'alleged divorce'. Fans were shocked, seeing that the couple looked happy for the most part, between their clothing brand and three kids, the news came as a surprise.
However, it turns out that Bookout tends to post clickbait stories on her Instagram, most of which are best not taken at face value.
If anything, the couple is considering having more children. They already have two kids, Jayde Carter McKinney and Maverick Reed McKinney, alongside Bentley Edwards, Bookout's first child. The couple is even considering adoption.
However, when it comes to having their own kids, they might take some time, especially after Bookout's miscarriage in 2017. Bookout, who has always been an advocate for women's health and PCOS, spoke about her miscarriage on the show back then, and even mentioned her child's name. “Her name’s Dandy. Dandelion,” she told producers during her solo takes. “I think it’s important for people that are watching that we talk about it.” She added focusing on creating dialogues around the same, as reported by InTouch.
With the couple focusing on their clothing brand, 'Things That Matter', taking care of their three kids and their TV appearances, the family of five seems to be living busy, albeit happy lives.
Her marriage to McKinney is a far cry from her relationship with her baby daddy and former fiance, Ryan Edwards.
Edwards, who got Bookout pregnant at 16, left her with most of the parenting work, seeing that he was never entirely emotionally invested in the process. Between college and caring for her son, Bookout was stretched thin and eventually decided to end their relationship.
The two were engaged in 2009, a year after the birth of their son in 2008, but ended the relationship in 2010.
Bookout briefly dated her childhood friend, Kyle King, but when rumors began to spread that he was cheating on her, she called it quits in 2012. It's around this time that she began dating McKinney; the two have their daughter in 2015. McKinney went on to propose to her the following year and that wasn't the only surprise they had. Bookout was pregnant again with her third child. She gave birth in May of 2016 and got hitched to the McKinney in October 2016. And the rest is history.
