Internet tears up after Linkin Park announces unheard 'Meteora' song featuring Chester Bennington's vocals

Linkin Park announced that the band will be releasing a new, unheard track that was a part of the band's 2003 album 'Meteora'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It’s been more than five years since the death of iconic vocalist Chester Bennington and fans still cannot believe that he left the world at such a young age. The musician was a member of the legendary band Linkin Park, a rock band that has given numerous hit songs. Since the death of Bennington, the group has never come together to create new music, but that doesn’t mean they can’t release unheard songs feature Bennington as the lead vocalist.

The iconic band recently announced that it will be releasing an unheard single that includes the voice of Chester Bennington, who died by suicide at age 41 on July 20, 2017. The band has been sharing a lot of cryptic messages on its official Twitter account regarding the song, titled ‘Lost’. The track is a part of the band’s blockbuster hit album ‘Meteora’ that was released in 2003 and is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

When will Linkin Park's 'Lost' release?

The band also shared an 18-second teaser across social media platforms in which a man can be seen wearing a gas mask and spray paint the camera black as the words “New Linkin Park Music” appear on the screen. The song will be available to stream and download from Friday, February 10th.



 

The video was captioned as, “’Lost,’ a new, never-before-heard song from the Meteora archives. Out Friday, February 10th.”

Fans believe it's 'a great year for music' 

Social media got really emotional after hearing that Linkin Park will be coming out with a new song featuring the vocals from Bennington and shared their excitement across all platforms. One of the fans wrote, “I have been waiting for this moment ever since i first heard it in 'The Making of Meteora' back in 2012!! i'm so incredibly happy that it's coming out soon!!” Another social media user tweeted, “This is so comforting cause I'm kinda lost with my dog's passing on wednesday. LP helping through my worst since always. Thank you.”



 



 

“Chester’s voice… goosebumps I remember being as a child back in 2003 listening to Meteora with my dad in the car. Twenty years later, I still have that CD and listen it. I just can’t wait to listen this. Thank you so much, guys,” another social media user said. “So happy because I can hear his voice,” wrote another one. “I just got chills...,” tweeted another user. “Oh hell yeah. This year is great for music,” tweeted another one.



 



 



 



 

It has been more than five years that we have seen the band getting together for music or a performance. The members – Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Rob Bourdon, Joe Hahn, and Dave Farrell – were last seen together in October 2017’s ‘Linkin Park and Friends: Celebrate Life in Honor of Chester Bennington’.

Bennington joined Linkin Park in 1999 and made his debut in the 2000 album ‘Hybrid Theory’. The album was a massive success and sold more than 4.8 million copies during its debut year. The next two albums – ‘Meteora’ (2003) and ‘Minutes to Midnight’ (2007) – went on to become number one on the Billboard 200 album chart. Linkin Park has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide and has won two Grammys.

Bennington became one of the most successful vocalists of all time and delivered several hits like ‘In the End’, ‘Numb’, ‘Crawling’, ‘One Step Closer’, ‘Breaking the Habit’, ‘Bleed It Out’, ‘The Catalyst’, ‘Waiting for the End’, ‘Iridescent’, ‘Lost in the Echo’ and more.

Despite being such a successful artist, the ‘Numb’ hitmaker struggled with depression and substance abuse. Although he overcame his drug addiction and would go on to denounce drug use in future interviews. The musician died on July 20, 2017 at his home in California, and the coroner ruled that he had died by suicide by hanging.

Even though he is not among us, but his music continues to live forever.
