'Infiesto': The plot
The story of the new Spanish movie 'Infiesto' takes place in March 2020 when a young woman who had been missing for some months is discovered in a small mining village in the Asturian mountains, and two detectives are brought there to investigate. The investigators soon come to the conclusion that the virus may not be the only evil force at work as the world begins to fall apart. The story unfolds as the two detectives, Samuel Garcia (Isak Férriz) and Castro (Iria del Río), are seen going through a fast-paced investigation that leads them to become victims of the "high power." Since the story takes place in a small town, the area under surveillance comprises people who know each other quite well which in the end helps the case to get solved. The road to success however seems quite dangerous so we see our duo go through quite many obstacles.
'Infiesto': Ending Explained
Iria del Ro and Isak Férriz, as the leads, portray a great duo of detectives, leading us into the more sinister parts of the plot. They frequently experience thrills and "near escapes," which opens a fascinating window of insight that never lets them down. What was believed to be another case of kidnapping soon turns into something bigger when the duo is led from one suspect to another. The case quite quickly unfolds where we see a group of three men who believe that the pandemic will be the end of the world. The group, a big believer in Celtic mythology, plans a human sacrifice to Taranis, the God of the storm. With the hope that the operation will help save the world, Ramus (The Prophet) abducts around nine children with the help of his two followers. Thankfully with the help of a stranger who turned out to be a former member of the cult, detective Castro discovers the true identity of The Prophet. Even though Castro kills Ramus in the end, we end up losing Detective Samuel in the process.
'Infiesto' is now streaming on Netflix.
