We can all agree that watching the network has become a national hobby in the United States. Amid a tumultuous political climate, HGTV has climbed to new heights.

People sometimes disparage HGTV as trash TV, and while it definitely can be — who hasn't wasted hours on a rerun of 'Love it or List It?'— the shows that run on its network (or are streamed via its hub on Discovery+) are equally noteworthy. Most people will never taste the trash-to-treasure dream they see on home-flipping shows because they lack the expertise, finances, or willingness to deal with a full-scale makeover. So, before 'I Bought a Dump...Now What?' airs, we've compiled a list of the channel's shows to watch. HGTV is ideal for binge-watching on a quiet Sunday afternoon, as well as having on in the backdrop while we do other things.

Coachella 2022: Here are the 10 hottest celebrities and their stunning outfits at the event

1. 'Flip or Flop'

It's difficult not to like 'Flip or Flop.' You've got old, filthy, dirty, stinky residences in Southern California that undergo spectacular renovations — and the hosts and former spouses Christina Anstead and Tarek El Moussa have made a lot of money thanks to the former's design abilities and the latter's financial wisdom. They continued to work together for the children and the business even after their separation in 2016, and 'Flip or Flop' is still going strong. Even though their lives have changed, they still have the same on-air chemistry.

2. 'Love It or List It'

Since 2008, 'Love It or List It' has combined the act of house remodeling with the act of searching for new real estate, with a healthy dose of friendly rivalry from squabbling co-hosts who have incredible chemistry together. Realtor David Visentin and designer Hilary Farr's on-screen chemistry is a big part of the show's popularity.

3. 'Brother vs. Brother'

'Brother vs. Brother' provides viewers with the same kind of hilarious antics as 'Property Brothers' while also highlighting the twins' opposing tastes. Jonathan and Drew's older brother, J.D. Scott, also appears in the show, which has a well-known "judge" decide on the chosen property design.

4. 'Cheap Old Houses'

The show, hosted by married couple Elizabeth and Ethan Finkelstein, premiered in 2021 and is an extension of their famous Instagram brand and newsletters, which feature budget-friendly old homes for sale and persuade people to revive them instead of the gut and renovate them beyond recognition. Each episode showcases the pair exploring historic houses and pointing out their distinctive traits. Elizabeth frequently describes various fashions or fixtures of the era the home was built in, making the entire episode a history lesson. They then explore a property that has previously been acquired and painstakingly repaired as proof that it can be done at the end of each episode.

5. 'Home Town'

The show follows Erin and Ben Napier, a lovely married couple, as they help purchasers identify and remodel cheap houses in Laurel, Mississippi, with Erin directing design and Ben assisting with renovations. 'Home Town' is the sort of makeover program that will make you want to pack up your possessions and migrate to the land of huge front porches and sweet tea, with lots of Southern charm and the warmth of small-town life on display.

6. 'Property Brothers'

They've been a regular on HGTV since 2011, hosting their signature show, also dubbed 'Property Brothers.' Drew is in charge of home purchases in each episode, while Jonathan, a qualified contractor, is in charge of renovations. Numerous spinoffs, as well as home items, publications, and books, have sprung out as a result of the franchise's success. Although it's easy to get lost in the 'Property Brothers' Extended Universe, the original series is generally the finest place to be.

7. 'Good Bones'

Every new HGTV show follows the same concept, with a few minor differences. It's usually a familial pair working on a junker that should've been taken down in the first place. The success percentage of the equation varies based on the chemistry of the family members, with 'Good Bones' being one of the better ones. Although the hosts are nice and friendly, the idea of whether someone would truly buy the property feels quite contrived.

8. 'Celebrity IOU'

Since the premiere of 'Property Brothers' on HGTV, Drew and Jonathan Scott have been in high demand. 'Celebrity IOU,' the Scotts' newest show, is described by HGTV as a means for celebrities to express their sincere appreciation to those who have made a significant effect on their lives by surprising them with large, touching house improvements that bring everyone to tears.

9. 'Renovation Island'

We can now turn our beach-bungalow fantasies into designing an island hotel thanks to 'Renovation Island.' Contractor Bryan Baeumler and his spouse, Sarah, are charged with making a profit by recreating the Caerula Mar Club in the Bahamas. 'Renovation Island' not only combines design and tourism into one show but also keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout.

10. 'Christina On The Coast'

There's a reason why HGTV created so many 'Flip or Flop' spinoffs so quickly: Tarek and Christina split up in 2018. However, just because the pair is no longer together does not imply they are no longer on the network. 'Christina on the Coast,' a show on HGTV that follows the eponymous star as she fills under-loved residences with her unique California-cool flair, premiered in 2019. We particularly appreciate how this series depicts her personal life, charting her relationships and demonstrating how she manages her work-life balance.
