The hit Amazon Original series 'Hunters' has just been renewed for a second season. Executive produced by new-age horror auteur Jordan Peele and created by David Weil, the star-studded series featuring the likes of Al Pacino is returning for a second riveting ride. Here's all you need to know about it.
Release date
The hit conspiracy thriller had debuted on the streaming platform earlier this year, on February 21. As of now, no release date for Season 2 has been announced. The second installment has just been greenlit
Plot
According to its official Prime Video synopsis, "Inspired by true events, 'Hunters' follows a diverse band of Nazi Hunters in 1977 New York City." They discover that hundreds of escaped Nazis, particularly high-ranking officials, are living in America and are conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the nation. "And so, they do what any bad-ass vigilante squad would do: they set out on a bloody quest for revenge and justice," the synopsis adds.
Cast
The acclaimed first season stars Al Pacino as Meyer Offerman. The character is the leader and recruiter of the Hunters. A Polish-Jewish philanthropist himself, he has survived the Holocaust. The role of Michael Corleone in The Godfather (1972) and the gangster role in the ultra-violent cult film Scarface (1983) cemented his legendary status and then there were many others that followed and he finally won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his amazing performance in Scent of a Woman (1992).
Logan Lerman's math whiz Jonah Heidelbaum takes his grandmother's place in the Hunters. In 2010, Logan starred as Percy in the fantasy-adventure 'Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief' (2010) after which the audience started taking note of him. Subsequently, he starred as D'Artagnan in a remake of The Three Musketeers (2011), and then headlined the coming-of-age indie drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012). His upcoming roles include Sean Fogle in the Irish-set drama End of Sentence (2019), with John Hawkes as his character's father, and Fred Nemser in the thriller Shirley (2020).
Jerrika Hinton is the FBI agent Millie Morris, drawn to the world of the Hunters and the Fourth Reich by an ongoing murder investigation. Josh Radnor, Kate Mulvany, Tiffany Boone, Greg Austin, Louis Ozawa, Carol Kane, Saul Rubinek, and Dylan Baker also star with Lena Olin as The Colonel, the leader of the Fourth Reich.
Creators
David Weil is a writer and producer, known for 'Moonfall' and 'The Twilight Zone' (2019), which is also a creation of Jordan Peele, his executive producer on 'Hunters'. “I am beyond grateful to Jen and the Amazon family for their continued extraordinary support of Hunters,” said Weil in a statement about the greenlight. “Alongside our magnificent cast, incredible crew, and brilliant writers and producers, I am more eager than ever to share the next chapter of the Hunters saga with the world.”
