BURBANK, CALIFORNIA: Lisa Loring, who was well-known for played the young Wednesday Addams on 'The Addams Family'  from 1964 to 1966, has died at 64. She had a massive stroke before her death on Saturday, January 28, at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Loring's first television appearance was in an episode of the NBC medical drama 'Dr. Kildare' in 1964. The actress began her modeling career when she was just three. She also played prominent roles in 'As the World Turns', 'The Munsters' and the 'The Pruitts of Southampton' among othera. She also made an appearance in an episode of 'The Girl from U.N.C.L.E.'.

Born as Lisa Ann DeCinces in Kwajelein, Marshall Islands, on February 16, 1958, Loring got married when she was just 15 to Farrell Foumberg and gave birth to her first child when she was 16 because of which she took a break from her acting career. However, after losing her mother to alcoholism, she returned to acting on 1977’s 'Halloween with the New Addams Family.' In her second innings in the industry, she also worked in the shows 'Blood Frenz', 'Savage Harbor', and 'Iced' among others. The actress also has a history of heroin addiction.

How did Lisa Loring die? 

Loring died due to a massive stroke for which she was hospitalized. Apart from her two daughters, Vanessa and Marianne, she is survived by her grandchildren, including Emiliana and Charles. “She went peacefully with both her daughters holding her hands," Vanessa told Variety. Laurie Jacobson, one of her friends, wrote on Facebook, "It is with great sadness that I report the death of our friend, Lisa Loring. 4 Days ago she suffered a massive stroke brought on by smoking and high blood pressure. She had been on life support for 3 days." 



 

She added, "Yesterday, her family made the difficult decision to remove it and she passed last night. She is embedded in the tapestry that is pop culture and in our hearts always as Wednesday Addams. Beautiful, kind, a loving mother, Lisa's legacy in the world of entertainment is huge. And the legacy for her family and friends -- a wealth of humor, affection and love will long play in our memories. RIP, Lisa. Damn, girl...you were a ton of fun."



 

Meanwhile, Loring's role as Wednesday Addams was again in the news recently following Jenna Ortega’s portrayal of the iconic character in the Netflix series, 'Wednesday'. The final movie she starred in was the 2015 film 'Doctor Spine'.

Writer Bonnie Vent wrote on Facebook, "So sad to share the news that Lisa Loring has passed. See below for more information. I worked with Lisa and the rest of the cast of: "The Addams Family" on the DVD release of the original show. Those are great memories."



 

Netizens too were devastated by her death. One person tweeted, "Two snaps up for Lisa Loring, the original Wednesday who passed away today Rest in power queen." Another wrote, "RIP I had the pleasure of working for Lisa Loring aka the original Wednesday on the Addams Family at NJ Horror Con back in 2017 she was so sweet I’m so sad to hear that she passed away!!" Another chimed in, "So I found out earlier that Lisa loring who played Wednesday Addams on the 60's Addams family TV show passed away today.... she will forever be remembered for her portrayal of such an ICONIC character #RIPLisaLoring."

Actress Barbara Crampton wrote, "Rip dear Lisa Loring. Delightful in the role of the youngest member of The Addams Family, your iconic presence as the original Wednesday will forever be remembered. You were an important part of our cultural history. I was so happy I met you. I hope you knew how much we loved you." Danny Deraney stated, "Rest in Peace Lisa Loring, the original Wednesday Addams. The original Wednesday dance with Ted Cassidy from the 1964 episode, Lurch Learns to Dance."

Another fan wrote, "This makes me sad. My youngest who is four just discovered the Addams Family. Not the animated ones, not the live movies, but the original b and w. I have been having a blast watching them with her. We sing the theme together and love it and thing. She loves Wednesday."  "RIP, dear Lisa. Thanks for sharing your talent," stated another user. Another wrote, "Lisa Loring, the first actress to portray the Goth Icon Wednesday Friday Addams, has joined the choir singing the introduction to This Corrosion by the Sisters of Mercy.
