Is Savannah Guthrie OK? NBC broadcast journo reveals suffering from high fever, fans think it's Covid-19
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: This week, 'Today' showvfans are not watching the program due to the absence of the popular Australian American broadcast journalist Savannah Guthrie. The 50-year star has revealed that she could not be present in her usual NBC Studios due to being bedridden with what she assumes to be flu. Besides 'Today' show, she also missed the annual Rockefeller Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 30 which was meant to be hosted by Mario Lopez, instead of Al, alongside Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Craig Melvin.
Guthrie recently shared a photo as proof of her high fever on her Instagram account and shared the unfortunate news with her fans. The pic showed her resting and swaddling in blankets while holding up the thermometer to the camera with a temperature that read over 101ºF. She wrote, "UGH - flu or something like it since Monday. I'm so sad to miss the tree lighting and TODAY," in her caption. She then added, "Hopefully it passes soon! Miss everyone."

Fans and co-workers quickly poured their love for her and assured that she would still be watching the tree get lit up for the first time this year, even if from bed. Sheinelle Jones, her co-host, wrote in the comments, "Oh no," with a tearful emoji, adding, "Love you and hope you kick this soon." Fellow NBC journalist, Kristen Welker said, "Oh I’m so sorry!! Feel better soon- It won’t be the same without you!" Dylan Marie Dreyer commented, "Nooo!! I hate when the thermometer turns red! Feel better!" "I have the EXACT same flu. And same temp", said American singer-songwriter Ryan Tedder.
One fan commented, "Take a Covid test. People all think they just have the flu and they may have Covid" while another wrote, "Saturday late afternoon I had the same temperature out of nowhere... Next day urgent care... Positive for covid after evading it for almost three years.. Sending love to you SG," adding a red heart emoji. Another fan said, "You have to be on the show or its not worth watching." Besides being the co-anchor of 'Today', Guthrie also serves as NBC News chief legal correspondent and worked as the White House correspondent between the years 2008 and 2011.
