LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 started streaming on Sunday, June 16, 2024, on HBO, drawing enthusiastic fans to their screens for another thrilling installment of the action-adventure series.

As the first two episodes have been released, passionate fans have flooded the internet with their opinions on the season.

The 'Game of Thrones' universe boasts some of the most observant fans who dissect every detail of the show and its prequel 'House of the Dragon'.

The recent transformation of Jacerys Velaryon, known as Jace (Harry Collett), has caught the eye of fans, noting significant changes from the first season to the second.

The transformation is even more striking considering that the show's timeline hasn't advanced much, unlike the first season which featured multiple time leaps.

The second season opened with Jacerys Velaryon and Cregan Stark (Tom Taylor) in Winterfell, suggesting that Jace had undertaken the long journey north to Winterfell.

Drawing a comparison between his appearance and that of Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) from 'Game of Thrones', a Reddit user said, "How long was Jace in the North because he left Dragonstone with a punk rock hair cut and came back with the Jon Snow Jerry Curls🤔👀."

A Reddit user commented, offering a justification for the curly hair, "Traveling hundreds of kilometers flying on the back of a dragon certainly catches a lot of wind and messes up your hair…then we can imagine that Cregan complimented his curly hair and he decided not to straighten it anymore…"

Some fans attributed the change in appearance to an increase in the production's hair budget.

Another Reddit user said, "Huge wig budget upgrade in the north". Another Reddit user wrote, "Irl reason is the actor cut his hair too short just before filming season 1 so they put him in that shake n go party city wig, by season 2 his hair had grown out enough."

Other fans speculate that the hairstylists at Winterfell had their influence on Jace's new look.

A Reddit user said, "The Winterfell barber/stylist saw him dismount with that cut, and 5 men could not restrain him." Another Reddit user added, "Cregan arranged for the best barber in Winterfell to fix Jace's hair before sending him off."

How long did Jace stay in Winterfell?

In the book 'Fire and Blood', Jace spends weeks in the North and forms a close friendship with Cregan Stark. He also marries Cregan Stark's half-sister, Sara Snow. However, 'House of the Dragon' portrays a different interpretation of events.

The character of Cregan Stark made a brief, blink-and-miss appearance in the show, and as of now, Sara Snow does not appear in 'House of the Dragon' at all.

The friendship between Jace and Cregan Stark becomes significant in the book 'Fire and Blood', as Cregan Stark emerges as a major ally for the Blacks following the death of Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D' Arcy).

It will be interesting to see how 'House of the Dragon' handles the dynamic between Jace and Cregan Stark, especially since their friendship hasn't been prominently established in the show thus far.
