LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 6 aired on HBO on July 21, 2024, and the exciting episode saw many jaw-dropping moments. It also had a painful moment that made the audience wince a little in pain seeing Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) suffer from his injuries at Rook's Rest

Aegon was the victim of a vengeful attack from his brother Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) who burnt him and his dragon Sunfyre down during the Battle at Rook's Rest. Aegon suffered major burns due to dragon fire and broken bones from the fall he took after falling.

Aegon barely survived the attack and finally gained consciousness when Prince Regent Aemond went to see him.

Aemond threatened Aegon into silence about Rook's Rest

The scene between Aemond and Aegon was one of carefully crafted evil manipulation as Aemond pressed Aegon's burns and asked him if he remembered anything from Rook's Rest.

Aegon who is worried about his survival was forced into saying he remembered nothing. He is in no position to defend himself while Aemond has all the power. While many would argue that Aegon had it coming after the bullying he has subjected Aemond to, this is probably taking it too far.

Aemond could be in trouble if the truth about his actions at Rook's Rest came out and he finds intimidation as his way of handling things with his brother. Aegon may never recover and right now he is a far cry from who he was as an arrogant young man.

It may be possible though that the shock that he received during the battle and the medicine that followed has taken away the memory of how he got injured but the way this scene played out hints at him subtextually agreeing to keep quiet about the happenings at Rook's Rest.

Will Aegon recover from his injuries?

As per 'Fire and Blood', Aegon will never fully recover from his injuries but will get better and be in a position to get back to the Iron Throne again. Aemond commits an error and goes to take the castle of Harrenhall from Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith).

While Aemond is away at Harrenhal, Daemon and Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) take King's Landing. Aegon however survives the attack and escapes to Dragonstone with Larys Strong (Matthew Needham).

Aegon suffers another major injury in a battle at Dragonstone where he injures his leg while fighting Baela Targaryen (Bethany Antonia) but eventually recovers again and kills Rhaenyra Targaryen who survives an onslaught on her in King's Landing and reaches Dragonstone without knowing Aegon's whereabouts.

Aegon will return to King's Landing and rule on the Iron Throne before he gets killed by Larys and other conspirators who poison him to end the war.
