'Hotel Paranormal' Episode 5: Guests recount terrifying experiences from when hotel ghosts got attached to them
Spirits that cling to their spectral existence, develop deadly attachments. They tend to bind themselves to the living to share their tragic losses, but sometimes they also prefer to be left undisturbed. In the latest episode of Travel Channel's 'Hotel Paranormal', six hotel goers learned what happens when ghosts that have formed perpetual bonds to a hotel feel threatened by the interference of a stranger.
Judd and Thuy Gottlieb - Texas, 2015
The Gottliebs' trip out was a sweet escape from their hectic work schedule and they found lodge at a historical Texan hotel that they frequented. They sang high praises of the great customer service and its magnificence. They were also there to do some work related to their dog hotel business. Judd was interested to get a room on the fifth floor, in particular, since he knew of its reputation for being haunted. He was a life long skeptic and looked at this opportunity for merely as a marketing tactic. While Judd stayed in the supposedly haunted room on the fifth floor, Thuy chose to stay in a separate room by herself on the seventh floor because she wanted to get some downtime and relax.
As soon as Thuy left the room, Judd began to experience strange instances that had him unnerved. He heard the water faucet in the bathroom turned on and off on its own, several times, before he actually caught a few seconds worth of footage on his phone camera. Only moments later, the windows of his hotel room began to rattle loudly, although there was no storm or heavy winds outside. This was followed by heavy pounding against the wall. Judd subsequently felt an unseen presence around him and knew he wasn't alone. He turned towards the window, only to find the figure of a woman staring right at him through the pane. A woman floating five stories high.
Glenn White - New Orleans, 2011
Glenn White was a guest at an old run down hotel in the busy tourist district of what is considered as one of the most haunted cities in America. New Orleans, Louisiana is notorious for stories of the paranormal, ghostly sightings and urban legends. White was in the city with his daughter, who was celebrating her 16th birthday. The teenager had previously expressed her desire for a new experience and to indulge in a different culture as her birthday present. Just as they were checking into their room, the father and daughter heard a pounding from the room opposite to theirs, followed by the sound of children laughing. White found this strange, especially since the hotel reception had told him that his party was the only guest in that part of the hotel.
Upon returning after a fun night out, things started to get eerier for the two. Flickering lights, continuous pounding and the sounds of footsteps had them feeling jittery as fear started to creep in. He didn't know what was going on but he knew he had to protect his daughter. So he decided that they would be staying in that hotel for only one night. Late in the night he was awakened by a weight on his chest and recounts feeling like something was on top of him, followed by the feeling of breathlessness from being smothered. Only two minutes later, when he woke his daughter with his cries for help did he feel like he had been released from whatever it was that was trying to kill him.
Matt Holland - Southwestern US, 2013
Matt Holland had flown out to Phoenix, Arizona to help his brother in his move back to Long Island New York. After helping him pack up and load the car, they began their long drive cross-country. They'd spent 14 hours on the road before pulling up to a small motel right off of the interstate and the only one for miles around. It was about 3 am when they checked in and snagged the last room available. Upon entering their room, the brothers were immediately hit with an inexplicably foul smell. Holland scoured the room looking for the source of the smell when he noticed some patchy stains on the carpet. On closer examination, he realized they were bloodstains. He was hit with the thought that something bad had happened in the room, that too, pretty recently.
With this disturbing thought plaguing him he was unable to fall asleep, despite his exhaustion from the drive. When he did turn off the lights however, he noticed a dark figure in the corner of the room. He initially thought it was his eyes playing tricks on him until he saw it approach his bed. He felt like he was being lifted off the bed by a powerful intangible force and struggled to get words out to alert his sleeping brother. After a minute or so he felt himself being freed from the hold and a shaken Holland woke his brother up telling him they had to leave that room immediately.
