Release date

Home Town Takeover premieres on HGTV on Sunday, May 2, at 8 pm ET/PT.

How to live stream?

You can also live stream the show on Discovery+ from May 2 onwards.

Plot

Ben and Erin Napier definitely know a thing or two when it comes to fixer-uppers, seeing that the hosts of 'Home Town' have been designing, building and restoring homes for five years now. While they have completely changed their own town, Laurel, Mississippi, and given it a much-needed makeover, the duo is back and this time they are taking on Wetumpka, Alabama.

The couple will be carrying out 12 major renovations across the city, in a new show aptly named 'Home Town Takeover'. These renovations include restaurants, shops, historic homes, public spaces, a new farmers’ market and an entire downtown street. The goal here is to create something for the community that will last for generations and stand the test of time.

Cast

Ben Napier

Ben has a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and is also a woodworker. He met his wife at University of Mississippi when he was 21. The couple runs three businesses together — a lifestyle brand under the name Laurel Mercantile, Scotsman Co., as well as a furniture line with Vaughan-Bassett, all while being TV personalities as well.

Erin Napier

Erin is an artist who has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design from the University of Mississippi. She was 19 years old when she met Ben.

As reported by House Beautiful, it was producer Lindsey Weidhorn who spotted the couple's work through the hashtags #ILiveInLaurel under which Erin regularly posted photos. When the network contacted her, she assumed they were looking to buy stationery from her brand. Turns out, they were offering her a show instead.

Special Guests

The series will also feature a range of guests who will help the duo with the overhaul process. Grammy award-winning star Sheryl Crow will be performing an intimate main street concert. Eddie Jackson of the Food Network and Cooking Channel Host and Randy Fenoli of TLC’s 'Say Yes to the Dress' will also be making an appearance.

A number of HGTV hosts will be helping out too such as Tamara Day of 'Bargain Mansions', Steve Ford of 'Home Again with the Fords', Wendell Holland of 'Hot Mess House', Dave and Jenny Marrs of 'Fixer to Fabulous', Ty Pennington of 'Rock the Block', Jasmine Roth of 'Help! I Wrecked My House', Mina Starsiak Hawk of 'Good Bones', along with Jon-Pierre and Mary Tjon-Joe-Pin of 'Two Steps Home'.

Trailer

With Erin stating that this is the biggest project of their lives, the sneak peek for the series features the couple getting to know the people of Wetumpka, Alabama, while giving their town the ultimate facelift. It also features a range of familiar HGTV faces as well.
