Johnny Depp's lawyer Camille Vasquez brutally grilled Amber Heard yet again on the stand on Thursday, May 26. "Your lies have been exposed to the world multiple times?" Vasquez told the 'Aquaman' actress. "I haven't lied about anything," responded Heard. In an unexpected twist to the story, and perhaps one that Team Johnny had been waiting for, Heard seemed to admit on the stand that she indeed wrote her op-ed about Depp.

"When you told this jury you punched Mr. Depp because you thought of Mr. Depp pushing Kate Moss down the stairs, you didn't expect Miss Moss to testify that never happened?" Vasquez asked. "Incorrect, I knew how many people will come out of the woodwork to support Johnny," responded Heard. "Everybody who was around in the 90s and early aughts knew that rumor. I had heard that rumor from multiple people. Of course that's what flashed through my head when my violent husband not only swung for me but all of a sudden swung for my sister. Of course I thought of that. I did not expect her to show up or expect her to show up, it did not matter, it did not change what I thought on the stairs when I thought he was going to kill my sister." Here, Heard referred to Depp's ex Kate Moss testifying that Depp never pushed her down the stairs, which had been a rumored incident.

Heard was pressed about why so many people decided to speak for Depp, support the actor and take the stand to defend him. "I know how many people will come out and say whatever for him. That's his power. That's why I wrote that op-ed. He is a very powerful man and people love currying favor with powerful men," Heard replied.

For the uninitiated, Depp and Heard are squaring off over a 2018 op-ed Heard wrote for the Washington Post, where she called herself a domestic violence survivor. Depp has claimed that he was booted from the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise because Heard's op-ed clearly implicated that he was the abuser. The article, however, did not mention Depp by name. The actor sued for $50 million and Heard countersued for $100 million, claiming Depp ran a smear campaign for years in an attempt to silence her and destroy her acting career. Until now, Heard did not admit that the op-ed she wrote was about Depp.

Depp and Heard began dating after meeting on the set of the 2011 film 'The Rum Diary'. They got married in Los Angeles in February 2015. In 2016, Heard obtained a restraining order against Depp, accusing him of abuse. Depp, however, denied the claims, saying that her accusations were a "choreographed hoax”. In 2019, the two settled their divorce out of court. At the time, Heard said she had donated her $7m (£5.5m) settlement to charity. Depp later accused her of lying about it.

'That, ladies and gentlemen, is actual malice'

Amber Heard's confession about the op-ed has led to social media users hailing Vasquez and slamming Heard, yet again. "Camille Vasquez just got Amber heard to admit on the stand not once but TWICE thst she wrote the op-ed AND it was about Johnny. This is a defamation case about that op-ed. Heard failed the assignment," one user wrote. "Amber Heard admitted she wrote the op-ed about Johnny Depp because of all the support he continued to get through the years and to take his “power” away. That, ladies and gentlemen, is actual malice," wrote another.

"Amber Heard just admitted she wrote the op-Ed about Johnny Depp because people were still continuing to support him and she couldn’t handle it and wanted to stop it. MALICE AND INTENT," one user wrote, while another said, "Not only did Amber Heard admit she wrote the op-Ed about Johnny, but that she admitted that it was to hurt his “powerful” image". "I think Amber Heard has admitted she wrote the Op-Ed because Johnny was still popular and she had to stop it. Defamation of Johnny out of spite RIGHT THERE in testimony. If Camille Vasquez isn't a partner, she should be very soon," one user wrote.
