HBO’s epic drama ‘Game of Thrones’ was not just about the grand scale, it was also about the little details the show had in each and every episode. Who can forget how the house sigil changed in the opening credits when Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) took back control from the Boltons. It is one of the things that made the show so special. With ‘House of the Dragon’, a prequel to ‘GoT’, making its way to HBO later this month, fans have started noticing all the little details about the show and started comparing it with the original series.

One of the striking details that made everyone really curious about the show is the vigil of the Targaryens. If you have seen the original series, then you’ll know that the sigil for House Targaryen had a three-headed dragon with two legs, but the latest one has a four-legged dragon. This little detail caught everyone’s attention and the show’s co-creator had a lot to say about it.

Speaking in a recent interview, co-showrunner Ryan Condal revealed that the sigil has indeed changed for the new series, but it’s not as new as some people think it is because it has actually appeared in seasons 6 and 7 of ‘Game of Thrones’. The showrunner stated that he brought the original sigil back to honor Daenerys Targaryen. Condal also opined that everything that viewers see on the show has been included for a reason.

Condal told Entertainment Weekly, “I will say every choice we made on this show, down to even smaller minutia than that [sigil], was made with a reason. I would say stay tuned. But I also say that the sigil that you're seeing in this show you did see in the original show, as well. The truth of the matter is you think you've seen the Targaryen sigil a lot in the original Game of Thrones, but actually, it's not in Game of Thrones that much. You've seen it on books and Funko Pops and things like that.”

Condal also stated there’s a reason for these alternate designs to appear on the upcoming shows and he has assured everyone that it would make sense. He added, “We chose to go down a road that I think honored where Daenerys left us off versus where people think it all started. But I will say, stay tuned. Hopefully, it will all make sense in due time.”

Fans are really excited to see the show focusing on the House Targaryen when they used to rule the entire Westeros. The show takes place almost 200 years before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’ and mainly focused on the life of Princess Rhaenyra, who is chosen by King Viserys I Targaryen as the new leader of the house. However, things take a U-turn when the King of the Seven Kingdoms conceives a son later in life. As soon as this happens, the entire House splits into two and a civil war takes place inside the House of the Dragons.
