HBO announces August 12 premiere date for new seasons of comedy-dramas 'Ballers' and 'Insecure'

The Dwayne Johnson-starring 'Ballers' and Issa Rae-starring 'Insecure' will premiere back-to-back on August 12.

HBO has announced that the new, upcoming seasons of comedy-drama series 'Ballers' and 'Insecure' will premiere on the network back-to-back on Sunday, August 12. The former will be returning for its fourth season while the latter will be in its third installment. 

Created by Stephen Levinson, 'Ballers' looks at the lives of former and current football players and stars Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in the titular role of Spencer Strasmore, a retired NFL player who has reinvented himself as a financial manager of other NFL players. The series initially premiered on the network in June 2015 and saw Johnson garnering praise bringing his patent charm and charisma to the role. The upcoming season will air between 10 and 10:30 pm ET/PT.
