'Harley Quinn' Season 2 Episode 5 Preview: 'Batman's Back, Man' brings Bruce Wayne to a New Gotham

With Batman's (Diedrich Bader) city fallen, cut off from the rest of the world, and his worst villains having seized control of New New Gotham, there is one question that's on everyone's mind: When is the Harley-Ivy romance finally going to begin? That's all anyone really wants to see, but a close second is a question of where Batman has been all this time. And we're all about to get some answers.

When we last saw Bruce Wayne, he had been pulled from the rubble, heavily injured, and unresponsive to the two medical workers who identified him. The events of the Season 1 finale saw Batman disappear in the Joker's (Alan Tudyk) citywide explosion, risking his life to save Harley Quinn (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell). He's been in a coma ever since he was found, but no longer. Batman has awakened to a city very different from the one he knows, and the odds have never been more stacked against him.

The official synopsis for the episode reads, "Awakening from his coma to find Gotham in shambles, Bruce Wayne (DIEDRICH BADER) jumps back in the Batsuit immediately. But is his ego writing checks his body can’t cash? Meanwhile, Two Face attempts to forge a criminal alliance with Bane, as they’re the only two Big Bads left in Gotham’s criminal underworld."

Harley Quinn is likely to be none too pleased with Batman's return. She's been picking off the Injustice League one by one, and she's just two Big Bads away from taking control over New New Gotham entirely, but Batman is unlikely to ever let her just take over the city no matter how anarchic it's become. Then again, with Harley on track to being the city's biggest villain, and the Joker seemingly dead, Batman may be looking at a new nemesis.

It's good news for Harley, who no longer has to worry about her nemesis being a young Robin (Jason Tremblay) whose voice hasn't even cracked yet. She's still going to have to deal with the last two remaining members of the Injustice League, however. Whether they team up or not, Two Face (Andrew Daly) and Bane (James Adomian) aren't likely to go down without a fight.

The next episode of 'Harley Quinn' airs on  May 1 on DC Universe.
