'Grey's Anatomy' Season 17 Episode 3: Will Alex pull the plug on Meredith? Fans say 'stop this foolishness'
Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) broke fans' hearts when he left in Season16 to be with his ex-wife Izzy Stevens (Katherine Heigl). He left his wife Jo (Camilla Luddington) behind as well as his best friend Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), a person who he normally prioritized over everyone else.
Meredith and Alex's friendship was a favorite among fans as the two always had each other's backs and were always there for each other. And now, as Meredith lies with Covid-19, fans are rather rattled and wondering why he isn't coming to be there for his person.
Moreover, it upset fans further when Meredith mentioned that Alex was her emergency contact and, if ever, he would be the one to pull the plug on her. This got fans literally sobbing. She might be dying but Meredith is still impatient and a stubborn patient, a real nightmare for her fellow doctors. She would rather sleep and be "at the beach" where she can see her dead husband, Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey).
Derek died in Season 11 after a terrible crash, and though Meredith has moved on with Andrew DeLuca, she has never really gotten over his death. It's uncertain whether Meredith is going to have to die to reunite with him, or whether she will recover to be with DeLuca or Cormac Hayes (Richard Flood), another handsome doctor to be in the wings.
'Grey's Anatomy' airs on ABC on Thursdays at 9 pm.
