'Grey's Anatomy' Season 17 Preview: Owen confronts Teddy after she cheated on him, will he ever forgive her?
Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) and Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) are one of the blandest couples on 'Grey's Anatomy', and their drama just got a lot more...for the lack of a better word, annoying. Oh, those days when the two characters had great depth and complexity, rather than subjecting everyone to a nauseating romance.
After a hell of a ride with Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone), Owen finally decided to move on with his best friend Teddy in Season 16 of the medical drama. The two have always been rather confusingly off-on in terms of their friendship as well as relationship. Teddy made no bones about the fact that she was madly in love with him, but it was just never the right time for them. However, this weird bond might have just come to an end in Season 16.
Owen had proposed to Teddy, and for a while everything seemed sunny in their lukewarm paradise. Yet, after a vague conversation with Amelia, Teddy began to have doubts. What if the father of Amelia's baby was not Link (Chris Carmack), but Owen? So Teddy decided to take up the only sensible option available to her: Go sleep with her ex-boyfriend, Tom Koracick, because clearly, there's just nothing else you can do in a situation like this. Without Owen knowing, they slept together several times, till Owen made it clear to Teddy that he loved only her and gave her much-needed assurances. Amelia's baby-daddy wasn't Owen, but Link, as the DNA test proved. Well, Teddy seemed unsure of where she wanted to go, as Tom seemed to be in love with her too. Her goodbye sex with Tom was heard on voicemail by Owen, and he was...well, least pleased to hear it and stood her up at their wedding. Some gall of Teddy to show up for her wedding, after almost planning to run away with Tom.
In the teaser for the new Season 17 promo, we can see Owen confronting Teddy and asking her to come clean to him, if she had anything to say at all. Will Owen be able to give Teddy a second chance, and get past the fact that she cheated on him numerous times? Or will he just finally let go of her, have a personality transplant and become the Owen of the older days? The last one is an improbability but there's no harm in hoping, is there?
'Grey's Anatomy' Season 17 returns this week, November 12, ABC at 9pm. The latest season will focus on the coronavirus pandemic.
