The coronavirus pandemic of 2020 left the world crippled economically, emotionally, not to mention physically as well. It sent people into lockdown for months on end, and even now the end of the tunnel doesn't seem to be in sight for quite a while. In this regard, how could the doctors of Grey-Sloane memorial in 'Grey's Anatomy' not deal with this? Season 17 will focus primarily on the surgeons battling the merciless Covid-19, along with their tumultuous personal lives.

Giacomo Gianniotti, who plays Andrew DeLuca on the show, has said that the new episodes will dive into the pandemic. "We’re going to start the season about a month and a half (into) full Covid. It’s going to take place a little beyond where we left off in the last season … We’re not picking up right where we left off," he told Entertainment Tonight. While it's going to be a Covid-19 centric-season, several storylines are going to be tackled Going by the teaser, Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Teddy Altman (Kim Raver)  will need to make a decision about their relationship and it could just be the end for them. If we remember correctly, Owen finally found out about Teddy's infidelity and stood her up at their wedding. In the teaser, they have a confrontation. Meanwhile, DeLuca and Meredith Grey's (Ellen Pompeo) relationship is hanging by a thread too. The last we saw of Richard Webber, (James Pickens Jr), he had just recovered from a successful operation. His wife Catherine Fox (Debbie Allen) tried reconnecting with him, but too bad for her, he remembered all the petty (read: evil) things she had done to him, and threw her out of his office room. Apart from that, Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) and Link (Chris Carmack) just had a baby, so hopefully, all remains well on that front. In the teaser, we see Tom Koracick losing his cool too.

The synopsis for the first episode reads, "The doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial must contend with the Covid-19 pandemic; an unintentionally started fire has first responders from Station 19 bringing patients into the hospital for treatment." Being GA's ability to dole out shocks, you never know – one doctor might have just caught COVID too. Who could that be? At the end of the teaser, we just see Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) saying 'Oh my god...'

Clearly, 'Grey's Anatomy' will continue to have 'Station 19' crossovers in Season 17 too. 'Grey's Anatomy' returns on November 12, Thursdays at 9 pm, ABC.
