'Grey's Anatomy' is back folks and this time with a Covid-19-centric season. How will the doctors of Grey-Sloane memorial battle the pandemic that has taken over the world, killing millions in its wake?

Yet, it's not just Covid-19 the doctors have to contend with. They have to battle their own personal demons and save their failing relationships. While Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) decide what to do about their dead-end relationship, it remains to be seen if the Season 17 premiere will address the issues between Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Andrew DeLuca.

The couple had a particularly rough time in Season 16, due to Meredith's trial and DeLuca's bipolar disorder that was addressed later in the series. After Meredith raises concerns about DeLuca's handling of a patient, they break up as he lashed out at her for not having any faith in him and his abilities. Yet, when he had another breakdown, Meredith came to soothe him. She told him that she loves him and will do anything to help him.

However, there's another doctor waiting for Meredith in the wings, and that's the handsome Cormac Hayes (Richard Flood) who has had a rather tragic past. He had lost his wife and is now taking care of his teenagers. He and Meredith strike up a bond, and there's quite a chance that the two might hit it off. After all, this was a "gift" sent by Meredith's best friend and person Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh).

The question remains on whether Meredith will move on with Hayes or finally have that happy ending with DeLuca. The synopsis for the episode reads, "The doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial must contend with the Covid-19 pandemic; an unintentionally started fire has first responders from Station 19 bringing patients into the hospital for treatment."

In an interview with Metro, Flood opened up about the love triangle. "There's definitely a bit of a love triangle there between Cormac, Meredith and Andrew DeLuca so it will be interesting to see how that develops. I've spoken to the writers about this season and where they are thinking of taking certain stories. As always, they have some really great ideas. I just want the character to grow and to be able to get to know even more about him. I'm ready for everything they throw at me… I mean, they've already thrown a lot at Cormac."

'Grey's Anatomy returns on November 12, Thursday, at 9 pm on ABC.
