'Grey's Anatomy' Season 16: Will Richard Webber cheat on his wife Catherine with old patient Gemma?
The third episode of 'Grey's Anatomy' titled 'Reunion' had several twists and one familiar face has returned to the show. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) met his old patient Gemma again. Played by Jasmine Guy, the character first appeared on the series in a Season 15 episode titled 'Head Over High Heels.' After a night of drinking, Gemma went home and tripped while carrying her high heeled shoes, leading to impalement in the chest.
Richard saved her life after the surgery and the two even seemed to have a past connection as they knew each other from Alcoholics Anonymous. Gemma and Richard saw each other again when he found out she was working at Pacific Northwest General Hospital, the same hospital he was. After a difficult day at the hospital, he tried to call his wife Catherine Fox (Debbie Allen), but she didn't answer.
There was a tiny hint towards the end that Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) might cheat on his wife again when Richard was invited by Gemma for dinner and he accepted it. Fans are worried and have already sent out warning signs on Twitter. "Richard don’t cheat on your wife... cause dinner is how Catherine got you from Adele #GreysAnatomy," one Twitter user wrote and another said, "Richard better go home to his wife smh. #GreysAnatomy." Another tweet read: "That hospital is really the worst, run Richard run #GreysAnatomy."
Another fan told him to stay loyal despite the difficult times. "Richard I know Catherine isn’t being supportive of your decision working in the hospital, but don’t cheat! #GreysAnatomy," one tweet said. Tired of the same storyline repeating over and over again, one user posted, "Oh lord, Richard Webber’s about to cheat again #GreysAnatomy."
"Richard please don’t have another affair #GreysAnatomy," one tweet read. "Maaaaannnn Richard better not cheat again #GreysAnatomy," one fan wrote, and another posted, "Noooooo writers what are doing Richard go home! #GreysAnatomy." Another person added, "Richard always got a new girlfriend. Him and cheating ass. I mean it so lovingly #GreysAnatomy."
One fan seems to be waiting for the episode that focusses on Richard Webber's storyline. "Do you know what episode is Richard's centric? Because with Catherine, his old friend and this writer it looks like..." one fan asked, to which another 'Grey's Anatomy' follower replied, "Yes, pretty sure 16.05 will be a centric focused on Richard, Jo & Mer & the issues they deal w/. I'm assuming it'll be Richard & Gemma and their struggles with sobriety/alcoholism, flashbacks to Jo's time in rehab for depression, Mer & the broken healthcare system #GreysAnatomy."
According to Deadline, Guy will be seen in multiple episodes in Season 16 of 'Grey's Anatomy' in "a key recurring role." Moreover, the episode description for Season 16, Episode 5 reads, "Richard and Gemma grab breakfast together and things go awry." There seems to be trouble brewing in Richard's paradise.
