'Grey's Anatomy' Season 16 fans can't wait to see more romance between Schmitt and Nico in Episode 3

The official account of 'Grey's Anatomy' posted a picture of Alex Landi and Jake Borelli captioned "Schmico" and fans are thrilled!

Amidst a sea of affairs and flings on 'Grey's Anatomy', season 15 puts the spotlight on gay couple Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli), a newbie intern and Nico Lang, a muscley resident.

Their relationship began on a surprising note after they first hooked up in the 2018 midseason finale episode eight titled 'Blowin' in the Wind'.

Later, the two were seen shirtless in the 2019 premiere 'Shelter From the Storm,' when acting chief Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) accidentally bursts in their steamy love nest.

Officially known by their ship name 'Schmico', the pair seems to have the audience intrigued. Borelli feels it is "the most adorable thing" he has heard.

Not just the character, the actor also came out of the closet about his sexuality. "As a gay guy myself, tonight's episode was so special to me," the 28-year-old actor wrote last year.

"This is exactly the kind of story I craved as a young gay kid growing up in Ohio, and it blows my mind that I'm able to bring life to Dr. Levi Schmitt as he begins to grapple with his own sexuality this season on 'Grey’s Anatomy'."

Hinting at more "gay romance" in season 16, the official account of 'Grey's Anatomy' posted a picture of Alex Landi and Jake Borelli captioned "Schmico", and fans can't stop talking about it.

"Alex Landi will not be in episode 2. He will be in episode 3. Episode 2 looks boring. The season premiere was lame. We need more Schmico. 3 minutes in ep 1 doesn't cut it. They keep the show fresh," one fan wrote.

Another one posted, "Give Carina De Luca more prominence. Above all make an LGBT story of two women. Please."

"Can’t wait to see more of them and the other interns!" one tweet read, while another said, "Jake is so cute I'm crying."

While some fans tagged them as the "best couple", one of them wrote on Twitter: "What do we want? More Schmico! When do we want it ?! Soon if possible! Lol but in all seriousness, we need all of the Schmico content."

"I just want to thank @GreysABC @shondarhimes @byshondaland for every little sprinkle of #Schmico in each Grey’s Anatomy episode. They make this show all the more amazing to me. I can’t wait for more of them," one user tweeted with a GIF of the two actors.

Another one posted, "This is my first time watching Grey's Anatomy live, I watched all of season 15 for Schmico and I'm here for season 16 for the same reason."

As the third episode airs on Thursday, October 10 on ABC, there's hope that the makers will explore more of Levi Schmitt and Nico Lang's relationship.
