The CW has hit the ground up and running in the New Year as it treated fans by releasing the official synopsis for 'Green Arrow and the Canaries'.

The spin-off stars Katherine McNamara as the daughter of Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak. Also returning are Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) and Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy) in supporting roles.

According to a report by Comicbook, the backdoor pilot which airs on January 21 will introduce Star City in 2040 where Mia sees her world as nearly perfect, except, trouble is brewing.

The official synopsis reads: "STAR CITY 2040 – It’s the year 2040 in Star City and Mia Queen (Katherine McNamara) has everything she could have ever wanted."

"However, when Laurel (Katie Cassidy) and Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) suddenly show up in her life again, things take a shocking turn and her perfect world is upended. Laurel and Dinah are tracking a kidnapping victim with direct ties to Mia and they need her help," the synopsis shared.

"Knowing it will change everything, Mia can’t help but be a hero and she, Laurel and Dinah suit up once again to save the city. Tara Miele directed the episode written by Beth Schwartz & Marc Guggenheim & Jill Blankenship & Oscar Balderrama," the synopsis added.

With the network playing the cards close to its chest by not revealing much, there's isn't a lot to go on as far as speculations go. What we do know for now is that Mia has been a victim of the 'Crisis' and barring the seven Paragons, the rest of the world or Earths, as we know it, has been decimated by the anti-matter wave.

Mia was last seen assisting Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) in the buildup to the battle. Speaking of Queen, the Green Arrow is all set to return as the Spectre and take on the Anti-Monitor.

'Crisis on Infinite Earths' will conclude on January 14 while 'Green Arrow and the Canaries' backdoor pilot airs on January 21.
