'Crisis on Infinite Earths' Part 3: The Spectre is coming and he may be the one who saves the multiverse

The death of Oliver Queen / Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) may have been anticipated but it was still a pretty heartbreaking moment when we saw him die in 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' Part 1.

However, 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' Part 3 teases that Oliver may still have a part to play, not as the Green Arrow but as the almighty Spectre.

The Spectre is an ancient mystical being, largely believed to be one of the first angels created by the Judeo-Christian God and the living personification of divine wrath.

His power is nearly limitless and the Spectre's only real weakness, and a minor one at that, is that he needs to be tethered to a human host in order to manifest on Earth.

According to the character's history, a few humans have hosted the Spectre and one of them was former Gotham cop Jim Corrigan, who was the Spectre for decades. The other notable character was Hal Jordan, the most iconic of the Green Lanterns.

It had already been announced that the Spectre would be appearing during 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' but after the death of Oliver Queen in Part 1 of the Crisis, the internet was filled with speculators tweeting about Oliver's return as the Spectre.

Those speculations have been confirmed in Part 3, as the former host of the Spectre, Jim Corrigan (Stephen Lobo), confirms that it's time for Oliver Queen to host the powerful spirit.

John Diggle (David Ramsey) had just managed to convince Oliver's soul to calm down and return to Oliver's raging, Lazarus-Pit-resurrected body when Jim Corrigan stepped out and convinced Oliver that he was meant for a higher purpose.

In the comics, the Spectre is the only hero with the power to stand against the Anti-Monitor directly, which gives the other heroes time to put a plan into action that would destroy the Anti-Monitor once and for all.

With the Spectre fighting on their side, the Arrowverse heroes may just have a chance at surviving the 'Crisis'. 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' Part 4 will air on The CW on January 14.
