'Good Girls' Season 3 Episode 2 Preview: Beth runs business the way Rio would, but his return is worrisome
Our beloved 'Good Girls' are back for a second run on NBC and with each episode, tension builds up over the inevitable face-off to come between Beth and her former toxic flame, Rio. While fans can finally rest easy knowing Rio is very much alive, and his son staying with Beth means his return into her life is not far away, but by the looks of it, the coming episode will focus more on the titular trio's hustle to sustain themselves by hook, or by crook, and plenty of dissing towards Agent Turner, even though he was the one who saved Rio's life after Beth shot him in season 1 finale.
In a newly released trailer for the second episode titled 'Not Just Cards', we see Beth (Christina Hendricks), Ruby (Retta), and Annie (Mae Whitman) looking over the flowered up memorial for Turner. Pursed lips and blank expressions on their faces reveal that they are beyond thrilled that Turner is out of the way, even though they aren't exactly allowed to express their thrill in public. But then Annie pulls the most Annie-like stunt and dumped her entire glass of soft drink on the candlelit memorial pier and even though Ruby tells her, "This is not how it works," Annie truly is beyond sparing a single moiety of care.
As a montage of fake notes piling up and their money-laundering stint progressing in full swing drifts on the screen, the scene switches to Beth gleefully declaring, "Guess we're back in business, whenever we want!" To their heartiest joys, Ruby and Annie laugh it off, but we just know things are going to convolute and twist so bad in the recent future that no amount of fake money might be able to see them through the crisis.
Distracting us further, Annie can be heard saying, "Let's go get some bacon, bodies, and birds," for some odd reason and once again we are greeted to a montage of the three ladies going about their robbing sprees and Annie - sticking to her mantra - manages to find a tiny little bird to carry around too.
What really raises our concern is the fact that right after Beth tells her girls that this is exactly how Rio would have handled things, we see the dreaded man walking into the city with a duffel bag and swag he is so popular for. But be assured, Annie and Ruby are all geared up to die with Beth the moment any kind of Rio nonsense resurfaces and not even gang-friends can deter the confidence Ruby develops the moment she connects the dots.
'Good Girls' episode 2 airs on Sundays at 10 pm only on NBC.
