'House of the Dragon' finally drops dramatic Season 3 trailer and it's releasing sooner than you think
It's just a matter of time before the Dance of the Dragons commences with impeccable force. It has been two months since 'House of the Dragon' dropped a teaser, building up the anticipation for the upcoming Season 3. In an exciting turn of events, the 'Game of Thrones' spinoff show screened it's full length season three trailer at CCXP Mexico over the weekend, and has finally released the trailer online for fans of the franchise. It has also been confirmed that the third installment of the HBO show will premiere on June 21 across North and South America, with the global release set for June 22.
Lead writer and showrunner Ryan Condal had previously teased that Season 3 goes "very hot, very, very quickly" in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, and the trailer definitely does justice to this declaration. Condal had further added, "The people that were waiting and waiting for all of the horrible, brutal, pitiless bloodshed will be getting it in copious amounts". The trailer instantly establishes the grim and unforgiving world of the show, with Matt Smith's Prince Daemon Targaryen vowing to his wife and niece, the queen Rhaenyra, played by Emma D'Arcy, that "Our children will rule forever and a day." However, with the benefit of hindsight and given the events of 'Game of Thrones,' we now know that's not how things will ultimately turn out to be.
Elsewhere, Fabian Frankel's Ser Criston Cole remarks in the trailer, "Look to the sky, doom and ruin surround us." The trailer also depicts the arrival of 'House of Guiness' star James Norton as Ormun Hightower, also known as Alicent's cousin. Moreover, the trailer further confirmed that the sibling rivalry between Aegon and Aemond Targaryen would be at its peak in the upcoming installment. The gulf between the two brothers is widened as Aemond has his sights set on the Iron Throne in the absence of his brother. Meanwhile, the embittered Aegon declares at one point that he will kill his brother or ''die in the attempt.''
The international convention at the Citibanamex Center in Mexico City featured Frankel, Smith, and Olivia Cooke, who hyped audience expectations for Season 3. Condal, meanwhile, was away and had to dial in via video call. While introducing the trailer, Condal remarked, "I’m very sad to not be joining you all there, but I’m back here in the U.K., putting the finishing touches on post-production in season three. This is a huge season. It’s the biggest we’ve made by any margin and by a wide measure. It is dark. It’s funny. It’s action-packed. It’s emotional. And, of course, it has lots and lots of dragons. This season demanded the very best of everybody who collaborated to make it together, and I can’t wait for the world to experience it."
