'Sullivan’s Crossing' Season 4 has set up a major love triangle between Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan), her current partner, California ‘Cal’ Jones (Chad Michael Murray), and her ex-husband, Liam (Marcus Rosner). The romantic drama premiered its Season 4 on April 20 on The CW in the U.S. Based on Robyn Carr's popular novel series of the same name, the series centers on the neurosurgeon Maggie, who leaves her medical career in Boston and returns home to rural Nova Scotia to repair her fractured relationship with her estranged father, Harry ‘Sully’ Sullivan, played by 'Gilmore Girls' star Scott Patterson. The cozy Canadian drama exploded in popularity last year after Netflix premiered its first two seasons in July 2025, followed by the third season in August.

The Season 3 finale of 'Sullivan's Crossing' packed a lot of drama as Sully left rural Nova Scotia and settled in Ireland with his girlfriend, Helen Culver (Kate Vernon). The actor (Patterson) later revealed that "creative differences were becoming untenable" behind the scenes, prompting his exit from the hit series. Another major cliffhanger from the finale involved the return of Maggie's ex-husband, Liam, just as she was ready to start her life with Cal. Maggie had previously called Liam a “summer fling,” but it is later revealed that they were married and their marriage was annulled.

The Season 4 premiere of 'Sullivan's Crossing' shows Maggie and Cal dealing with Liam's return, as the latter claims his purpose of visit is to collect their annulment papers so he can move to Europe. However, the episode ends with Maggie learning that the annulment papers were not filed correctly, meaning that she's still married to Liam. At the same time, Maggie is seen reminiscing about her past with Liam, who brought out her adventurous side. The next episode will continue to showcase the fallout from Liam's presence in their lives as Maggie and Cal figure out the way forward. 'Sullivan’s Crossing' Season 4 Episode 2 is titled 'Open Wounds,' and it will release on The CW at 8 p.m. ET on April 27. Written by Rosana Roth, the episode is directed by Michael McGowan.

The official synopsis of Season 4 states: "Having decided on a new direction for her career and with a renewed commitment to Cal (Chad Michael Murray), Maggie Sullivan’s (Morgan Kohan) life at the Crossing is finally taking shape until, Maggie’s ex-husband, Liam (Marcus Rosner), arrives with a shocking revelation which only upends Maggie’s life once again and causes Cal to question whether Maggie will ever truly be able to leave her past behind."
