Brian Cox on his first-ever Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series— Drama for starring in 'Succession'.

The award was announced by Tim Allen ('Santa Clause') and 'Gilmore Girls' star Lauren Graham. Talking about the win, Cox said:  "This kind of event does your head in."

"I want to apologize to my fellow nominees for winning this. I have been in this business for 60 years and didn't think I would win this. I am a wee bit shocked," he continued.

"It wouldn't have happened had I not worked with the most extraordinary bunch of people ever. Jesse Armstrong, What a talent what a man. He empowers you to do your best work," Cox added.

Other nominees included Kit Harington ('Game of Thrones'), Rami Malek ('Mr. Robot'), Tobias Menzies ('The Crown') and  Billy Porter ('Pose').

The series centers on the fictional Roy family, the dysfunctional owners of a global media and hospitality empire who are fighting for control of the company amidst uncertainty about the health of the family's patriarch, Logan Roy.
