NEW YORK, NEW YORK: 'GMA' news anchor Michael Strahan caught the attention of his fans as he made his displeasure known after a troll left a mean comment on English football player Harry Kane's Instagram post. Strahan not only made sure to defend Kane but also hit back at the troll, insisting his behavior stemmed from not being satisfied with his own life.

The brief heated exchange took place under an Instagram post of the English player, who captioned the post with, "Football 🤝 Soccer. Always a pleasure chatting with stars from other sports." As is visible in the post, Kane obviously had a good time chatting with Strahan, who gushed over the 'Tottenham Hotspur' jersey signed by Kane.

Was the heated exchange necessary?

It is not known why Strahan thought it was necessary to respond to the troll personally but it is well known that trolls and cyberbullies are unavoidable when it comes to celeb posts. A simple response from a celebrity asking the audience to be kind instead of being bullies prevents the mean comments from taking a toll on their mental health. The troll in this case chose to question Kane's professional achievements, and commented, "The caption is why you have 0 trophies". The mean observation had Strahan responding in a no-nonsense take down,  asking the troll to be self-reflective about his own life instead of making derogatory remarks. "You can always tell someone who has a life they aren’t satisfied with by the comments they make. Be better!!" wrote Strahan.

Fans were divided over Harry's caption

While some fans were appreciative of Strahan's clapback, the entire comment section was divided over the 'Football or Soccer' debate. One user commented, "Please don‘t call it Soccer." A second user queried, "Did England’s all time goal scorer just call football soccer". A third user commented, "Bro you cannot get your dream move to Chelsea if you keep calling it soccer". Meanwhile, there were some positive comments regarding the interaction that took place between Strahan and Kane because both of their fans were happy that people from different sports were interacting with one another. A fourth user commented, "Two handsome athletes!" A fifth user commented, "Massive respect from an American who loves the nfl and the epl". Another user commented, "Football 🤝 American football".
