'Ghosts' is finally bringing in the second season to the US. The hilarious British sitcom is truly a rare item on television as it follows a myriad of ghosts from different time periods sharing a house with its new occupants.

The show has been applauded for the powerhouse performances of its ensemble cast and for its high joke rate and unique premise.

The BBC One original is headed to HBO Max later this month. Here's everything you need to know about the show.

Release date

Season 2 of 'Ghosts' will be available on HBO Max starting October 27, 2020. 

Plot

According to the official synopsis of the series, "Button House is home to restless spirits whose lives, or rather, afterlives, are thrown into turmoil when a young couple unexpectedly inherits the peaceful derelict house and plan to turn it into a bustling hotel." 

More details about the plot of the show reveal, "Crumbling country mansion Button House is home to restless spirits who've died there over the centuries. Each a product of their time, they're thrown together for eternity, resigned to squabble over mundane daily gripes. But their lives, or rather, afterlives, are thrown into turmoil when young urban couple Alison and Mike unexpectedly inherit the peaceful derelict house and plan to turn it into a bustling hotel."

Cast

'Ghosts' boasts of a massive ensemble cast that together makes each episode of a show a memorable one. Lolly Adefope stars as Kitty, the ghost of an overly chummy, naive Georgian noblewoman. Jim Howick plays the role Pat Butcher, the ghost of a friendly and polite scoutmaster who was accidentally shot through the neck with an arrow by one of his scouts in 1984. Charlotte Ritchie plays the role of Alison Cooper, the young woman who inherits the mansion, and Kiell Smith-Bynoe plays her husband Mike. Mathew Bayton plays the role of Thomas Thorne, the ghost of a failed Romantic poet who was shot in a duel and falls in love with Alison at first sight.

Martha Howe-Douglas plays the role of Lady Fanny Button, the ghost of a former owner from the Edwardian era. Simon Farnaby plays the role of Julian Fawcett MP - a member of the Parliament who died in a sex scandal in 1993, Ben Willbond plays the role of The Captain, the ghost of a stern Second World War army captain. And lastly, Laurence Rickard plays the role of Robin the Caveman.

The show is created by Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond. 'Ghosts' is directed by Tom Kingley.
