‘Gangs of London’ Episode 3: Who is Floriana? Here's how Marian may take revenge from her husband's mistress

Every family has many skeletons in the closet but the Wallace family's secrets can turn out to be explosive. The third episode of ‘Gangs of London’ begins with a slice of history from Turkish Kurdistan in 2014 but soon transitions back to the aftermath of Finn Wallace's death (Colm Meaney). The mystery hangs in the air and no one has a clue why someone would order the kill of the most powerful criminal in London.
As Finn's son Sean Wallace (Joe Cole) puts it: “He made everyone rich. I don't know who would kill him.” If only life were that simple! Well, he doesn't know that his closest aides are ten steps ahead of him. Finn's wife Marian Wallace (Michelle Fairley) has her own private investigator. She gets to know about Finn's yacht on which he spent around £36 million. Not just that, the island cost him around £180 million.
Taken aback, Marian quips with a sigh, “Building a new life!” When the PI tells her he renamed the boat to “The Floriana,” she retorts back in a suppressed fit of rage, “Pretty name...” The PI also gives her some information on her husband's driver Jack O'Doherty (Emmett J Scanlan) and says he had no debts, no oddities. Marian then tells her to dig up more information on “everything, everyone.”
That scene makes it crystal clear: Finn was cheating on Marian with a woman named Floriana. Played by Arta Dobroshi, Floriana will soon make an appearance in the forthcoming episodes. Now that Marian knows about the “other woman”, what will she do?
In another scene, DI Vicky Chung (Jing Lusi) interrogates a young lady. “My neighbour — she disappeared the night the old man appeared in the apartment.” An old friend and neighbour of Floriana, she also reveals that the two came from the same village in Albania with no papers and that Floriana was supposed to escape from the city. “The old man who was killed, was he visiting Floriana?” Vic asks her and she replies, “She is going to have his baby.” That disclosure changes the game.
As the episode moves forward, Marian comes face-to-face with Ed Dumani (Lucian Msamati), Finn's secret keeper. She directly asks him, “Did you meet her? Floriana?” He says no and then she asks him, “Jack would have known, wouldn't he? Jack would have known everything.” The episode ends on a rather brutal note with a power struggle between Lale (Narges Rashidi) and Sean and we get to know that Finn stole billions in an attempt to escape and start a new life with his mistress Floriana.
Now the question is how will Marian avenge his death. Remember how in a scene earlier, she said that if a woman did this, “she didn't love him...” Will Marian kill Floriana or will the two team up for a greater motive? What was Finn trying to hide by planning an escape route with a yacht and an island? The episode has left many unsolved riddles. One Twitter user asked, “If Finn had millions, why didn't he put Floriana up in a nicer joint - or was she keeping it real? #GangsOfLondon.” It's also quite a mystery as to how she will keep the baby alive and away from evil eyes. Well, it seems the next few episodes will have the answers to some of those questions.

‘Gangs of London’ premiered on AMC Plus on Thursday, October 1, 2020. The first three episodes aired on the premiere date and the rest of the 10-part series will be followed by weekly episodes on Thursdays.
