LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Ganglands' is a jam packed series that offers everything from drugs, rivalries, betrayals, fights, guns to family-like bonds and friendship. Season 2 dropped with a much bigger package and a rattling good story along with great action sequence and an even bigger cliffhanger. The French crime-thriller released its second season on Netflix on February 17, and it's much more entertaining than season 1.

The second season of the Netflix crime-thriller brings together the fighting duo, Mehdi and Liana back on the front seat to take revenge for the death of Liana's beloved Shainez. But, don't worry, Liana has another possible love interest in season 2, who plays a siginificant role in the second season. This season will see Mehdi and Liana back with the ardour to fight their enemies to save their loved ones.

A sad ending for Tony

From the first season, Tony was an inspiring character, who cleared his conscience and wanted to leave the world of crime. As soon as opportunities opened for him to run away and take his family with him to Italy, he gets arrested for the murder of Chris, a drug-smuggler who kills Shainez in season one. After his arrest, Tony rats out Mehdi to the cops as he was a co-conspirator in the murder of Chris.

However, he backs out last minute and runs away with Mehdi into the safe house and away from the police radar. It seems like Tony's story didn't have a future in the series and hence in the last episode of season 2, Tony is killed off along with his entire family by the people working under Almeida. The loss of their dear friend, sends Mehdi and Liana reeling.

The game of chess comes to an end when Almeida, the conspirator behind playing everyone including the cops and killing off the cartel boss' son gets arrested. After the cartel boss comes to know about Almeida back-stabbing him in hopes of becoming the next cartel boss, he sends a message through Saber for Mehdi and Liana to kill off Almeida in exchange of flying them off to anywhere they please. Taking a chance to change their lives and run away from Brussels, the fighting-duo takes the bait.

A big chase of gun-fight and violence ensue in the police station, when Mehdi and Liana pay a little visit to kill-off Almeida, but due to panic and the sadness of losing Tony, Liana freezes and doesn't bring herself to shoot Almeida. After getting information on the close hit-and-miss, Saber tells the duo about Almeida's plan of flying away from Brussels. The duo chases him to the airport and in a grand scheme of things, Liana ends up scoring multiple shots at Almeida, knocking him dead.

What's the end game for Mehdi and Liana?

The end of season 2 brought with it a cliffhanger that left us assuming the conclusion to the story of Mehdi and Liana. Does the duo have another mission in the future? Will there be a third installment to this crime-thriller series? There are several questions and no answers. After shooting and killing Almeida as per the deal with the cartel boss, the duo is supposed to get on the plane to an unknown destination, somewhere far away from the violence and bloodshed.

Moreover, speculations swirl when the last episode ends with the question, "Where to?" We are only assuming that the next season (if there's one) will hopefully be a chase for Mehdi and Liana in a country far away. If there are talks of season 3, we are excited and already counting days for it to drop. Till then, watch the second season of French crime-thriller 'Ganglands' streaming exclusively on Netflix.
