Netflix's 'Rogue City': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about French crime thriller starring Jean Reno
Budgeted at $13 million, 'Rogue City' (also titled 'Bronx' in some regions) is set in Marseille and centers on a complex case of rivalry between gangs and a group of cops, where the "border between personal and professional justice is blurred". Caught in the crosshairs of police corruption and Marseille's warring gangs, a loyal cop has to protect his squad by taking matters into his own hands. Alain Figlarz, who has previously worked on films like 'Taken 3', 'The Bourne Identity' and 'The Transporter', was responsible for the choreography of the stunts and the gritty action scenes. This French crime thriller was shot on location in the south of France.

The film's global premiere is on October 30 on Netflix.
Plot
The streets of Marseille are rife with gangland warfare. A bloody shootout at a disco, undertaken by the Orsolani clan, fans the tension in the city. The Anti-Gang Brigade cop Richard Vronski, known for his unorthodox methods, is put in charge of the case alongside a longtime rival from the Banditry Repression Brigade. A new police chief, Ange Leonetti, is also sent down to call the shots and clean up the city. Very quickly, everyone realizes that, in this investigation, you don’t get anything without risks and sacrifices. Vronski and his crew find themselves in a race against time to save their skin.

Jean Reno
Veteran actor Jean Reno stars as the new police chief in Marseille, Ange Leonetti, tasked with cleaning up the city. Reno, is best known for Luc Besson’s 'Léon: The Professional' and 'La Femme Nikita'. He is a well-known character actor who has starred in many action-adventure films like 'Ronin', 'Godzilla', 'Mission: Impossible'. He was also cast in Spike Lee’s 'Da 5 Bloods'.
Other cast members include Lannick Gautry, Stanislas Merhar, David Belle, Kaaris and Moussa Maaskri.
Creator
Olivier Marchal uses his experience as a former cop who has worked for both the police and French intelligence in this film. He is both the writer and director of the film. He has depicted the gritty and perilous worlds of gangs and the authorities who try to bust them before this as well in films like '36th Precinct', 'A Gang Story' and the show 'Braquo'.

In the first scene in the trailer, you see the mayor of Marseille introduce Jean Reno as the new police chief, Ange Leonetti, who will be responsible for bringing back the rule of law on the streets. After this, we are also introduced to Vronski, played by Lannick Gautry, and his renegade cop squad who have developed unconventional ways to fight the gangs in the city -- but their unorthodox ways are not something Leonetti appreciates who would like them to be more disciplined. A shoot-out and subsequent investigations into police corruption further complicate life for Vronski and his team.
