LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Patty Jenkins’s ‘Wonder Woman’ holds the distinction of giving DCEU its first blockbuster hit in 2017, and everyone believed that the DC has finally got the success they wanted. Since then, it has been a mixed bag of the production house as some of the movies turned out to be gigantic hits while others missed the mark, like ‘Wonder Woman 1984’. The movie was released in theatres and on HBO Max simultaneously because of the Covid-19 pandemic and failed to recover its production budget. But a third movie in the franchise was inevitable and was going to happen soon. However, the new management had some different plans and ‘Wonder Woman’ doesn’t seem to be a part of them.

According to a recent report by Variety, the new heads of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Saffran, will be releasing the three-year plan for the DC cinematic universe. The recent report also suggested that ‘Wonder Woman’ won’t be a part of their three-year plan and Jenkins won’t be returning to helm the movie. However, it is worth noticing that Gal Gadot will continue to be a part of the DCEU.

The news of ‘Wonder Woman’ not being a part of the initial plan comes almost a month after it was reported that ‘Wonder Woman 3’ is not moving ahead and has been shelved, meaning Jenkins’ ‘Wonder Woman’ universe is apparently over. The Hollywood Reporter also indicated that the third movie in the franchise is considered to be dead as it didn't fit in with the studios' plans for the future of the DC Universe. But things turned ugly when another report claimed that Jenkins was the reason for the franchise’s demise. As per the report, Jenkins didn’t want to compromise on the script and when she was told to change it, she said she wouldn’t do that.

Jenkins didn’t stay quiet and hit back at the people who were behind this rumor. While talking about the matter, Jenkins noted that she never walked away from the movie and blasted the publications for “false stories.”

She added, "Sigh… I’m not one to talk about private career matters, but I will not allow inaccuracies to continue. When there started being backlash about WW3 not happening, the attractive clickbait false story that it was me that killed it or walked away started to spread. This is simply not true. I never walked away. DC is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now."

It seems Gunn and Saffran are trying to create an entirely new plan to take the universe ahead. It will be interesting to see the characters that will be included in this first phase of announcements. As of now, Henry Cavill, Leslie Grace, and some of the other DC stars are not in DCEU’s future.
