LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: One of the most anticipated movies of the year is Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer'. 'Oppenheimer' sets out to tell the story of one of the most significant events in human history - J Robert Oppenheimer and his contribution to developing nuclear devices. Oppenheimer was an American scientist who had a huge role in the development of the atomic bomb. As most movie buffs are awaiting the release of this war drama, the British Film Institute is preparing the audience for the upcoming movie with a Nolan restrospective.

'Oppenheimer' is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book by Kai Bird and Martin J Sherwin titled 'American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer'. Directed by Christopher Nolan, 'Oppenheimer' has a star-studded ensemble cast including Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer, Emily Blunt as Kitty Oppenheimer, Matt Damon as Leslie Groves Jr, Robert Downey Jr as Lewis Strauss, Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock, Gary Oldman as Harry S Truman, Gustaf Skarsgård as Hans Bethe, Josh Hartnett as Ernest Lawrence and Jack Quaid as Richard Feynman. The movie also stars Tony Goldwyn, Kenneth Branagh, Rami Malek, Dane DeHaan and Casey Affleck in unnamed roles.

A movie for big-screens

Nolan is known for his usage of practical effects, rather than CGI. Some of his most iconic scenes include the plane crash from 'Tenet' and several signature stunts from the 'Batman Trilogy'  to name a few. And for the upcoming 'Oppenheimer', the crew has recreated the first nuclear weapon detonation without CGI. And the trailer of 'Oppenheimer' shows us a glimpse of the explosion, promising the audience a complete theatrical experience.

'Oppenheimer' is set to release in theaters on July 21, 2023.
