'Cold' Review: French Montana and Tory Lanez's catchy track will remind you of the pre-lockdown nightclub days

French Montana has released the official music video for his latest collaborative single 'Cold'. The track features Canadian rapper Tory Lanez and was released on May 1 via Epic Records and follows his previous single 'That's A Fact'. If you missed it, you can watch Montana's video for 'That’s A Fact' here.

Montana took to Instagram to announce the new 'Cold' video with a snippet and the caption "FREE THE GUYSSSS #cold VIDEO OUT NOW."

In the Eif Rivera-directed visual, we see Montana and Lanez surrounded by models in swimsuits as they show off their drinks and jewelry in an igloo palace with nightclub lighting. In the chorus the duo sings, "From the front, from the side, from the back. Man that b***h cold (Cold). Pinky ring, nice watch on my neck. Man that b***h cold (Go get). Quarterback, have a break, buss it down. Sell that b***h whole (Whole)."

'Cold' is more laidback in its energy and tone than 'That's A Fact'. Its breezy music gets a trap beat with a looped sultry guitar lick while the duo applies their heat to the vocals. Both new singles follow French Montana's third studio album 'Montana'. The LP was released in December 2019 and featured a generous collection of 20 tracks with guest appearances by Drake, Kodak Black, Chris Brown, Cardi B, Post Malone, Gunna, Juicy J, A$AP Rocky and more.

Apart from it boasting about the perks of being a celebrity in the rap game, the song is both relaxing and catchy. The video's nightclub theme has us reminiscing about the days we used to go out before the coronavirus lockdown started.

The release of the new music video may not be as celebratory an experience as the artists themselves would have anticipated following Lanez's arrest on July 12 for carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle. Apparently, neighbors said they heard shots fired following an argument in the SUV that was identified as Lanez's vehicle where he was with Megan Thee Stallion.

The latest album from Lanez, titled 'Chixtape 5', arrived in November last year and is the fifth installment of the Chixtape series with samples of "2000s-era R&B hits". The album includes guest appearances by Jagged Edge, T-Pain, Chris Brown, The-Dream, Mýa, Ashanti, Trey Songz, Lil Wayne, Fabolous and more.
