'Freeridge' Ending Explained: A million dollar ending with the perfect cliffhanger
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sibling relationships are usually a little bittersweet as we know it, you may want to donate your kidney to them but don't want to share your phone charger. Similarly, the relationship between Gloria Salazar (Keyla Monterosso Mejia) and her slightly younger (annoying) sister, Ines (Bryana Salaz) is a perfect example of every sister duo relationship around the globe. The 'On My Block' spin-off series has managed to reflect how your sister can be your ultimate nemesis and perfect friend. However, creators Laura Iungerich, Eddie Gonzalez, and Jeremy Haft have managed to leave the audience wanting more with its plot-twisted and nail-biting ending which might put the Salazar sisters' relationship hanging on a thread.
The Netflix series stars Keyla Monterroso Mejia as Gloria, Bryana Salaz as Ines, Tenzing Norgay Trainor as Cam, and Ciara Riley Wilson as Demi. Additionally, 'On My Block' alums Peggy Blow, Paula Garces, Eric Gutierrez, Eme Ikwuakor, and Raushanah Simmons will reprise their respective roles as Abuelita, Geny, Ruben, Dwayne, and Mrs. Turner. Rusty and Ines' unexpected kiss
As the series started with two sisters having silly feuds, things got serious in a short span of time in the Salazar household. Starting from the Salazar sisters' dad getting cancer to the unforgettable curse which comes with the box they bought at a yard sale. Gloria who feels pressure to always be perfect and the solver finally found a guy with similar interests, however, her younger sister Ines somehow falls for the same guy. Although Ines tried to create problems between the two by lying, Rusty and Gloria find their back to each other. Shortly after, Ines finds out a dark secret about Rusty. At the thanksgiving dinner, Rusty is forced to tell Gloria how Gloria's Tio initially paid Rusty to hang out with her but says he stopped taking money from Tio when he first realized his feelings for her. Of course, Gloria is far from happy. She tells him, “How would he know what love is when your own mother never loved you!” Rusty is gut-punched, walks away, and Mariluna follows Gloria into the kitchen where she hugs her and explains how she saw Rusty having genuine feelings for Gloria.
Meanwhile, Ines goes to Rusty to apologize and consolidate him. They get into a heated argument and then kiss out of nowhere. That’s when Gloria walks outside but never sees them. She sits between them on the bench and gives a facetious apology (as though that solves all their problems).
Is Mariluna really dead?
After Mariluna offers the 'Freeridge' kids a million dollars cheque or they cant opt to play her little game, she heads outside. Joker and Sad Eyes mistakenly think Mariluna is her identical twin, Marisol, and threatens her. Previously Joker had overheard Demi telling Ines that Marisol had found the Rollerworld money. Joker and Sad Eyes knew that Marisol had died, but after seeing someone that looked exactly like her (Mariluna), they thought she had faked her death. In the last scene, we see Marisol’s feet settling, as if her body has given out, out of the driver’s side door, and her high heels rest on the concrete driveway. Does this mean Marisol is dead? Considering the fact that they shot her from a close range perhaps it can be true that she is dead but it is a drama series so we cannot leave out the perspective that she could just as easily be discovered with a pulse and a gunshot wound.
