‘Vice Lord Poetry’: Freddie Gibbs takes dig at Kendrick Lamar, fans wonder his action
Rappers throwing jabs at Kendrick Lamar is not a new craze and the latest to join the bandwagon is hip-hop artist Freddie Gibbs who took shots at the Compton rap icon over his recent lyrics. It looks like Gibbs got mad pissed over Kendrick’s rapping that he was “smoking the top fives.”
In order to clear his head and to make things even, the Indiana rapper dropped a brand new freestyle called ‘Vice Lord Poetry’ on Drake’s ‘Certified Lover Boy’ intro ‘Champagne Poetry’. Specifically referring to Kendrick’s lyrics, the 39-year-old rapper took potshots at the hip-hop heavyweight. Kendrick on ‘Family Times’ collaboration with Baby Keem had rapped, “The Elohim, the rebirth/Before you get to the Father, you gotta holla at me first, bi**h/Smokin' on top fives/Muthaf**k that album, f**k that single/Burn that hard drive (Burn that s**t)." Keeping a bird’s eye view on the controversy, social media users had a ball on the Internet as they discussed the new beef in town.

Why did Freddie Gibbs diss Kendrick Lamar on new freestyle?
This is the first time when Freddie Gibbs dropped a track against Kendrick Lamar. The ‘Gang Signs’ hitmaker, it appears, got offended by Kendrick’s lyrics on the song ‘Family Ties’, the reason why he dragged him on the latest freestyle. Reverting to Kendrick’s claims, the Grammy-nominated artist raps in the first verse, “'I was big rabbit before the birth of my son/ The Earth ain’t big enough for both of us, you gotta get done/ They sayin' they smoking top fives/ But you ain't burned up the one/ Uh, f**k ni**as talkin' 'bout? (F**k ni**as talkin' 'bout?)/ Like every time I hit the booth/ I don’t leave that bi**h with a body count.”
In the second verse of the ‘Vice Lord Poetry’, Gibbs takes a dig at BET while bringing up old issues with Jeezy and Rick Ross, “F**k the industry, you get lost in it (Yeah)/ BET treat a ni**a like I ain't dark-skinned (F**k)/ But I ain't f**k with y'all since 106 & Park ended/ Cypher's just a waste of time 'cause I walk the park with it.” On the track, he also crowns himself as the best rapper around as declares he had the Best Rap Album of the Grammys this year. The Indian rapper’s album ‘Alfredo’ was nominated at the Grammys in the Best Rap Album of the Year but unfortunately lost to Nas’ ‘King’s Disease.’
‘Kendrick would body him’, claims Twitter
Social media users rushed to Twitter with mixed reactions. One user claimed, “Freddie gibbs is a better rapper than Kendrick” whereas, another warned, “Freddie don't want the smoke forreal but hopefully that line makes these rappers step their bars up tho.”
The next one posted, “Gibbs ain't got the pedigree to come at Kendrick... stay his Silk Miami shirt wearing a** over there.” Meanwhile, one added, “Freddie Gibbs put some respect on his name.” Another user tweeted, “Kendrick would body him.” One added, “Freddie and kendrick Goat, idk what he beefin for tho.” While another person concluded, “Lol Freddie doesn't want that smoke man.”
