'Flower of Evil' Episode 8 sees Ji-won (Moon Chae-won) track her husband to find his whereabouts and also use this opportunity to find the truth about Hyun-soo (Lee Joon-gi) and what really happened all those years ago. For one, we learn that it was Hyun-soo's sister Hae-soo who had stabbed the Gyeokyeongri Village Foreman and all that Hyun-soo had done was to take the blame for it. He had hoped that his sister could lead a normal life when Hyun-soo had taken the blame. Now, however, Hyun-soo's newfound life is at risk because of his father's accomplice who is still out there, and free.

Hyun-soo hopes that tracking the real accomplice would lead the authorities away from him and that way, his life as Hee-seong would also remain undisturbed. However, Ji-won doesn't want to let Hyun-soo go unless she is certain of who he was in the past and what he did or didn't do. So when Hyun-soo decides to meet his sister after Moo-jin arranged for a meeting between the siblings, Ji-won decides to track him without his knowledge. She learns of the love that he holds for his daughter, being careful of her characteristics and sees the brother and sister share a moment so emotional that it does make Ji-won wonder what Hyun-soo's true intentions are.

After speaking to him for a while, Hae-soo realized that her brother was not the same person from years ago. So she asks him if he has fallen in love with the Detective. Could that be the reason why he has changed so much? Hyun-soo answers in the negative and then says that he has never understood what love really means for him to know if he was in love with his wife. While it makes sense that someone with his condition would not be aware of the nuances of emotions, Ji-won takes this to her heart.

She did confirm that he was not the killer, and also confirmed that there was an accomplice who was on the run. So she decides to let her husband remain Hee-seong instead of digging further into his past. However, she also hopes to solve the case of the Yeonju City Serial Killer to ensure that Hyun-soo is proven innocent. From the way she has been acting around him, as if nothing is wrong, it is clear that Ji-won wants none of the evil acts associated with Hyun-soo and his father to touch upon her daughter. The chance that she is giving Hyun-soo is for the sake of his daughter but this might just help her and Hyun-soo also repair a part of their relationship that has been destroyed by Hyun-soo's lies.

While both Ji-won and Hyun-soo believe that the best course of action is for Hyun-soo to remain Hee-seong, the real Hee-seong might have a different opinion altogether. The real Hee-seong's mother is sick and tired of living a lie -- a lie that has everything to do with their son living on a ventilator, being fed through pipes and all of it because his father is unable to let go of his son. So she decides to take him off of the ventilator. While the husband arrives in time to see all of this, the two get into a fight even as Hee-seong struggles to breathe. Unexpectedly, the shock from being taken off of the ventilator turns out to be a blessing in disguise for Hee-seong. He is now awake and may very well want his life back. So despite Hyun-soo sidestepping the investigation into his father's case, he might end up losing his newfound life.

'Flower of Evil' will air on tvN on Wednesday and Thursday at 10.50 pm KST and can be streamed on Viki Global.
