'Flower of Evil' Episode 6: Ji-won finds out her husband is serial killer's son Hyun-soo, will she target him?
'Flower of Evil' Episode 6 begins by introducing the real Baek Hee-seong to us. We see him driving down a road on a stormy night speaking to someone on the phone and he speaks about facing something on his own, taking responsibility when he crashes into something. That something is none other than Hyun-soo who happened to be on the run. When Hee-seong tried to get Hyun-soo to the hospital, he is told not to. Hyun-soo says he wants to avoid hospitals and at that moment we are taken back to the present where Hyun-soo is yet again at the hospital after almost drowning. His wife Detective Ji-won has managed to save him just in time with the help of her team.
Hyun-soo who is probably on a lot of drugs hallucinates that he is about to get arrested, that his act has gone to an end and this results in him trying to flee from the hospital. However, as soon as he sees Ji-won, he calms down and that's when Ji-won's suspicions arise. Something about her husband definitely doesn't seem right. Right on time, Hee-seong's mother and father, the couple who have given Hyun-soo his current identity, arrive at the hospital and the three of them discuss the damage. The way things have turned out, the taxi driver may not be able to reveal anything about Hyun-soo. However, what worries them the most is Ji-won. When Hee-seong's mother gets agitated, it is also revealed that her agitation 15 years ago was the reason why the three of them had to suffer the way they did now.
We also learn that Hyun-soo was unconscious for more than five days before he woke up. However, now that he is awake, he had to face the questions from the cops about what he was doing at Hyun-soo's village, or why he was kept alive and tortured. Detective Choi, Ji-won's senior also sees that something doesn't seem right with the story that Hyun-soo is spinning. Ji-won also finds more reasons to doubt Hyun-soo as she puts together all the discrepancies that she would have otherwise let go. The underground room in Do Min-seok's (Hyun-soo's father) workshop, reminds Ji-won that as a detective she might not be in the right side of the case.
She lets all her anger, frustration, and suspicions surface finally when Hyun-soo who had no idea of the struggle she had to go through tells her to go sleep and rest. She yells at him about having had to see her husband almost die just days ago. After hearing her lose her temper, Hyun-soo is sure that there is something wrong but she doesn't add more. She walks out, and that's when we realize that she now knows that her husband is actually Hyun-soo and not Hee-seong. During one of the brief moments that Hyun-soo woke up, he thought he was looking at his sister and confesses that he is Hyun-soo.
At this moment, if as per Hee-seong's father's plan, he killed the taxi driver to make it look like a heart attack, that would only increase the rift that has begun to appear between Ji-won and Hyun-soo. However, that is exactly what Hyun-soo gets ready to do. In the meantime, Ji-won conducts a forensic investigation at Hyun-soo's workshop basement, where he had originally held reporter Moo-jin the first time they had met coincidentally.
So when Hyun-soo arrives to inject the taxi driver, he also learns that the man had been acting as if he had suffered brain damage all this while. The driver confesses, that now he believes that everything he had heard about Hyun-soo were just rumors. He also gives Hyun-soo permission to kill him. However, Hyun-soo remembers Ji-won and her telling him that he would never understand how she had felt while watching him almost die.
So that's when he comes up with the plan of reinvestigation through the taxi driver. So instead of killing him, he decides to strengthen the alibi further but what he isn't aware of is the fact that his wife has found trace evidence of blood in the workshop's basement. Meanwhile, Moo-jin revisits the witness who had reported the last victim's abduction. He finds an important piece of evidence at the same time that Ji-won decides to investigate the truth behind all the accusations against Hyun-soo to ensure that he is punished for his crimes -- the ones that he did commit.
'Flower of Evil' will air on tvN on Wednesday and Thursday at 10.50 pm KST and can be streamed on Viki Global.
