Things will finally come to a head in the upcoming finale of 'Flesh and Blood'. And once it ends, we will finally get to know who is in the hospital and whose 'accident' this whole series has been about. You have to give it to the writers to keep us guessing right till the end but we do know that it has to be either Mark (Stephen Rea) or Vivien (Francesca Annis), whose head was smashed on the rock below Vivien's terrace. Everyone else has already been interviewed by the Detective in charge of the case, including Mary (Imelda Staunton).

In the trailer, we see several key incidents that will affect the tone of Vivien's birthday party. Natalie (Lydia Leonard) who broke off with her married boss in the last episode is hounded by her ex who says she "can't just leave him". This means that she will be tense and on edge. Similarly, we see Helen (Claudie Blakley) desperately trying to woo her husband back but he doesn't seem ready to forgive and forget. Especially since she thought it was more important to take Jake's (Russell Tovey) phone call than listen to him at the therapist's office. The start of the party also doesn't look at all nice with Jake turning up drunk at his mother's house.

We also see Vivien consult Mary for the first time about her relationship with Mark and Mary says that as long as Vivien "believes him", that is all that should matter. But the thing is, Vivien doesn't trust Mark herself now ever since he dodged the question about his daughter's picture. We see her prying into Mark's first aid kit and discovering that mysterious bottle full of injectable fluid.

But she isn't half as good as Mark and Mary are at going through other people's stuff because Mark catches Vivien and she looks at him guiltily. If Mark is planning to kill her, he will probably do it even before they are in India if he thinks she suspects him.

In a sneak peek scene, we see Vivien's kids also stage an intervention of sorts. They tell her that they have all been "a bit worried" about her and the house. Helen specifically asks Vivien how they can be certain that Mark is "telling the truth". They also tell her what Jake found out from his sugar momma -- that Mark's first wife's death was a 'suicide' by drug overdose. This means that Vivien will be more suspicious of Mark at the party.

With Mark feeling all the heat, we see him turn aggressive at the party as he challenges someone who is off-camera to have the guts to confront him directly "Say it to my face," he says angrily. Interestingly, he is on the terrace as Natalie stands behind him looking uncomfortable. So we can expect this to turn into a bigger fight that will lead to the 'accident' that has been hinted at since episode 1. But who will get pushed off the terrace?

'Flesh and Blood' Episode 4 finale airs on Sunday, October 25, at 9/8c on PBS.
