A curious debate has begun trending on Twitter over bands Fleetwood Mac and Chicago. If you're a rock 'n' roll fan, it can get easily tempting to start comparing famous bands because of the lingering question of "who did it better?" There's a multitude of bands from the '60s to '80s that have loyal fans to date and rock bands from those eras have often been regarded as pioneers.

You will be forgiven if you start comparing groups because sometimes curiosity just gets the better of us and that is exactly what one cheeky fan did publically on February 22 with a straightforward question posed online.

A Twitter user @Toffifay76 dropped the tweet, "Fleetwood Mac or Chicago?"

Fan reactions

While several fans feel that those two bands aren't exactly in the same realm of music or there is no comparison needed, the question was enough to get Fleetwood Mac trending on the social media platform. Fans of the band have been quick to hop onto the debate with many zealous tweets. "How is this even a debate. Fleetwood Mac by a . . . Landslide." One fan shared the viral clip of Nathan Apodaca who rode a skateboard to the sound of the Fleetwood Mac smash hit 'Dreams', tweeting, "fleetwood mac is the fvcking GOAT of every mood and it really must suck to be someone who's not grown enough to handle it."

Another fan shared, "Chicago? “Why”? It’s “Not That Funny.” In your “Dreams.” No “Little Lies,” It’s Fleetwood Mac - by a “Landslide.” They’re “Everywhere” these days, like the guy skateboarding. If you disagree, “I Don’t Want to Know.” You can just “Go Your Own Way.” I could go on."

While stans recall some of their best Fleetwood Mac moments and songs, Chicago fans are also presenting a solid argument. "Chicago while Terry Kath was alive, and before Cetera went pure sugar. Chicago's first four albums are seriously hard to beat. FM after. I liked FM before Buckingham/Nicks, but I'm one of those who REALLY became a fan after they joined," said a fan to which another replied, "Excellent analysis. When I think about why I love Chicago, it's the early stuff. The '80s power ballads I could definitely live without."

Another fan added, "It's hard to beat Chicago with Terry Kath and Peter Cetera.....Fleetwood Mac was good with Peter Green but Mac part 2 kicked Lindsey Buckingham to the curb soooo - early Chicago....." One clearly said: "Chicago!!!!! I know ppl will unfollow but I have always hated Stevie Nicks. Her voice is like a fog horn..."
