'Serious Consequences': 'Fired' Marvel exec Victoria Alonso eyeing legal action against Disney, Marvel for sudden axing
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The ongoing tussle between Victoria Alonso and The Walt Disney Company seems to be far from over as the production giant is now facing serious legal action for suddenly firing the former Marvel VFX Chief earlier this week. The entire saga began on March 20th when it was announced that Alonso was leaving Marvel after 17 years and was planning to do something else.
However, a lot of media outlets came forward with reports that Alonso was actually "fired" from her job for reasons unknown. But it seems things are getting more and more intense with each passing day.
A recent report from The Hollywood Reporter noted that Alonso's work as producer of the Oscar-nominated feature film 'Argentina, 1985' seems to be the reason behind her exit from the company. Citing sources, the report also suggested that Alonso violated her 2018 employment contract with Disney by working on the movie 'Argentina, 1985,' which was produced by the rival studio Amazon Studios. As a result, the production house reportedly offered her a new contract and told her not to promote the movie in the future.
But Alonso kept giving interviews and also walked the Oscars Red Carpet to support the film.

Was Alonso fired because of violating the contract?
Alonso, who was born and raised in Argentina, has now taken the services of renowned attorney Patty Glaser to resolve the issue. The attorney came out with a scathing statement and blasted everyone who was creating false rumors regarding Alonso's exit. In a statement given toVVarietyvictoria, Glaser said, "The idea that Victoria was fired over a handful of press interviews relating to a personal passion project about human rights and democracy that was nominated for an Oscar and which she got Disney’s blessing to work on is ridiculous."
Glaser also noted that Alonso, an openly gay Latina, was silenced by Disney on various occasions. The attorney didn't shy away from saying that Alonso "was terminated when she refused to do something she believed was reprehensible".
"Disney and Marvel made a really poor decision that will have serious consequences. There is a lot more to this story and Victoria will be telling it shortly — in one form or another," Glaser concluded.
Disney says Glaser's comments are 'unfortunate'
Disney wasted no time in sharing their response to Glaser's remarks and said it is "unfortunate" that the attorney has left out "several key factors" around Alonso's exit. The statement added, "It’s unfortunate that Victoria is sharing a narrative that leaves out several key factors concerning her departure, including an indisputable breach of contract and a direct violation of company policy. We will continue to wish her the best for the future and thank her for her numerous contributions to the studio."
Alonso was considered to be one of the most-friendly Disney executives who never shied away from sharing her thoughts with the press or the public. She even went on to call out former Disney CEO Bob Chapek for not saying anything about Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill and told him to "take a stand" against the horrifying legislature.
The entire situation will get dirtier if this matter goes to court and it seems Alonso is leaving no stone unturned to take revenge for being blindsided.
