Victoria Alonso: VFX head who quit Marvel Studios 'singularly responsible for toxic work environment'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Marvel Studios is in news again, and not for their movies, but for a well-known executive producer, Victoria Alonso who was the President of Physical, Post Production, VFX, and Animation at Marvel Studios. Alonso left the production company last Friday. The depth of Victoria Alonso's career at Marvel was immense, and her contribution was remarkable. She has been part of the studio for more than a decade and has since seen the rise of Marvel Studios and the creation of some of the best superhero films.
Although the departure came out as unexpected news, the reasons are unclear and there is no information as to why Victoria Alonso left the production company. There are as many assumptions as there are accusations. New York Magazine senior reporter Chris Lee has now taken to Twitter to share some more details that may shed a little more light on what ultimately led to her stepping down or being asked to step down.

'She held a crazy amount of power'
As Alonso handled the VFX and animation of the MCU movies, some of them grossed over $25 billion at the global box office. But, Chris Lee's claims are bringing out Alonso in a bad light and stating that the relationship she had with the VFX artists that worked with her on projects was far from friendly. Lee's statement on Twitter stated that the toxic culture at Marvel Studios was because of Alonso and her power overtaking every single decision that didn't even come under her radar, Lee shared, "SO many VFX sources have told me Victoria Alonso was singularly responsible for Marvel's toxic work environment: a kingmaker who rewarded unquestioning fealty with an avalanche of work, but who also maintained the blacklist that kept FX pros wild eyed with fear" Lee continued with, "She held a crazy amount of power, bigfooting all major creative decisions on Marvel movies and shows. "Kevin Feige and Victoria Alonso personally approve every single shot, all the visual effects work, which is usually the job of a director or a show runner," one tech told me."

VFX artists at Marvel Studios shared their experiences
Many VFX artists reached out to share their experiences at Marvel Studios working under Victoria Alonso. They claimed that everyone was 'scared of' Victoria and "If she likes you, you're going to get work," Lee continued in the Twitter thread with, "The main one that everyone's quite scared of is Victoria Alonso," another tech said. "If she likes you, you're going to get work and you're going to move up in the industry. If you have pissed her off in any way, you're going to get frozen out."
