'Fate: The Winx Saga': Meet Abigail Cowen, Elisha Applebaum, Danny Griffin and rest of the cast of Netflix fairy-fantasy
'Fate: The Winx Saga' is based on the popular anime television series which centers on the coming of age journey of five fairies attending Alfea, a magical boarding school in the Otherworld. The members of the cast who would be playing the roles of the fairies were announced in September 2019 and here's a list of who plays which fairie in the Netflix show.
Who plays the Five Fairies:
Abigail Cowen as Bloom
Actor Abigail Cowen will play the role of Bloom, who happens to be Fairy of the Dragon Flame. She is the leader of the Winx Club, the most powerful fairie whose power comes from the Great Dragon who also happens to be a deity that created the magic dimension. She lived on Earth, not knowing that she was a fairie who was born on a different planet called Dominion until her powers were discovered. This character in its animated version was voiced by Molly Quinn. Before being cast as Bloom, Cowen had roles in 'Stranger Things', 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' and 'Wisdom of the Crowd'.
Hannah van der Westhuysen as Stella
Actor Hannah van der Westhuysen plays the role of Stella, Fairy of the Shining Sun in the show. She is the oldest member of the club, who is also Bloom's best friend and dreams of becoming a fashion designer. In that vein, she designs the clothes for her entire team. Her power lies in manipulating the light that comes from the Sun and Moon. van der Westhyusen had previously appeared in 'Grantchester' in a guest role and was also seen in the 2020 film 'The Bay of Silence'
Elisha Applebaum as Musa
Hailing from the planet of Melody, Musa is Fairy of Music. She has the power to manipulate sound waves and so, music as well. Throughout the animated series, she goes through multiple breakups with her boyfriend Riven, and that is also why she can sound pessimistic at times. This show happens to be the first main role that Applebaum would be starring in.
Precious Mustapha as Aisha
In the animated series, Aisha is introduced only in the second season when she is rescued by the other fairies from Lord Darkar. She belongs to planet Andros and her power is to be able to manipulate a pink substance called Morphix. Other than 'Fate' series, actor Precious Mustapha who plays the role of Aisha also has a recurring role in 'Code 404', slated for release sometime in 2021.
Who plays the Specialists:
Danny Griffin as Sky
Actor Danny Griffin will play the role of Sky who is Bloom's love interest in the show and the two of them dated throughout the first two seasons of the animated show and Sky even proposed to Bloom in a movie installment. He is the leader of Specialists, who starts as a Crown Prince and later becomes the King of Eraklyon.
Freddie Thorp as Riven
Riven belongs to the Specialists as well and his choice of weapon happens to be a red-purple phantosaber and a meteor hammer. Since his mother had abandoned him while he was still young, Riven is wary of women and that is one of the reasons why his relationship with Musa suffers.

'Fate: The Winx Saga' is scheduled to release on January 22 and the first season can be streamed on Netflix.
