'Hard pass': Fans fume as 'Stranger Things' star Dacre Montgomery sets record straight on portraying Wolverine
GOLD COAST, AUSTRALIA: Dacre Montgomery set himself as an up-and-coming star after playing school bully Billy Hargrove in the blockbuster Netflix series 'Stranger Things'. To cement his success in Hollywood even further, the Australian actor played TV director Steve Binder in Baz Luhrmann's 'Elvis' and delivered a striking performance. Known for his rugged looks and striking resemblance to a typical Alpha male as per fans, rumors soon started to swirl around that he could be playing the iconic role of Wolverine in Marvel movies. The badass role was previously portrayed by the iconic Hugh Jackman. However, the actor has set the record straight about this rumored casting.
The 28-year-old 'Elvis' actor has shot down the rumors of him playing Wolverine. He told The Daily Telegraph that Hugh Jackman helped him early on in his career and that his advice is more important to him than landing a big role in a major franchise. He said, "Hugh has become a good friend and a mentor of mine. I feel like it is an amazing opportunity as a newcomer in the Australian acting world to craft my own story, to craft my own path and journey and Hugh has been a really amazing advocate of mine. I almost wouldn’t want to do that whole scenario injustice by trying to step into that space."

Montgomery continued, "This is an interesting moment for me, I am not really interested in doing a superhero film, it doesn’t really interest me at this point. I am really trying to craft something that my childhood self really dreamt of when I watched small independent films with cool filmmakers and gritty engaging harrowing stories. But I still love to go to the cinema and watch stuff like X Men." While the actor himself has denied that he is playing the role, many are still furious at the idea of a younger actor portraying the legendary role while there are other more seasoned actors.
