LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Liza Minnelli made a rare public performance over the weekend and even sang a duet with her longtime friend and fellow Broadway star Ben Vereen during his cabaret performance of 'Stepping Out' at the Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles. Vereen sang on stage as Minnelli sang the lyrics into a mic at her table as the duo performed a cover of the song, 'Quiet Love'.

The icon, Minnelli, made headlines after she appeared weak and confused during last year’s Oscar ceremony. Her appearance at the Oscars in a wheelchair appearing confused, prompted questions about her health.

The 'Quiet Love' performance

The audience gave Minnelli a standing ovation at the song's end, as she stood with the assistance of a friend and waved to the audience while resting herself on her friend's shoulder. Tiffany Haddish, who performed 'Proud Mary (Rolling on a River)' by Tina Turner, and Wayne Brady also performed on stage with Vereen.

Minnelli also spoke to the audience about the first time she saw Vereen perform, during a production by choreographer and director Bob Fosse. "The first time I saw you on stage, I couldn’t breathe," Page Six quoted her as saying. Both Minnelli and Vereen appeared in multiple Fosse-related projects; Vereen in 'Sweet Charity', 'Pippin', and the Fosse biopic 'All That Jazz', while Minnelli is most known for her roles as Sally Bowles in 'Cabaret' and her own play, 'Liza with a Z'.

'The definition of Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve & Talent'

The 'Quiet Love' performance by Minnelli and Vereen was applauded by social media users. Internet users praised and admired Minnelli's performance calling her "fabulous." Another user commented, "The definition of Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve & Talent." "Wow! Ben and Liza showing the artist way," another exclaimed.
