Katherine McPhee and husband David Foster have a 'not so extravagant' date night in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Katherine McPhee, 38, and her husband David Foster, 73, were spotted on a date in Los Angeles recently. The 'American Idol' was wearing a pair of blue denim pants, a black crop top and a pair of white trainers. She topped it off with a white coat and a small black purse. The music mogul sported a black jacket, black pants, a sweater over a white collared shirt and a pair of black and white sneakers.
McPhee stated in November 2022 that she and her husband favored casual date nights, such as a dinner and a movie, as opposed to planning anything "extravagant." “I’ll have a glass of wine — he doesn’t drink — and we just talk,” she told Fox News at the time, adding, “That’s our time together that we always make sure to have.” McPhee claimed that despite the KMF jewelry founder and her "very hectic schedules," they found time for one another, especially since their one-year-old son Rennie was born.

“There’s always something to talk about whether it’s our family, our son — it’s our time. We just want to reconnect,” she continued. McPhee also described how their work relationship strengthened their romantic bond. “We’ve been colleagues long before we were in a relationship together. That’s where we’re the most comfortable together. It doesn’t create any friction between us at all. There’s no kind of unknown between us. That’s where it all started for us,” she said.
The pair met on 'American Idol' in 2006, when he was a mentor and she was a contestant. Throughout the years, they remained friends, and in 2017 rumors of a budding romance between the two surfaced. The pair made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala in May 2018. Foster proposed to McPhee that summer during a vacation in Capri. “He did it at the top of this mountain in Anacapri,” the singer revealed on Instagram at the time.
“Totally dark only stars. Thankfully he didn’t push me off the cliff. He said it was one of the other and in the end he spared me," she added. Foster and McPhee exchanged vows, in June 2019. Foster has five daughters from prior relationships: Allison, 52, Amy, 49, Sara, 41, Erin and Jordan, 36.
