Emmy Nominations 2022: Fans furious after Selena Gomez snubbed for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

Gomez's snub comes on the back of the hit show being renewed for Season 3

Selene Gomez was snubbed for the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series during the Emmy Nominations 2022 and garnered quite the buzz on social media. The singer didn't make the cut for the category that included Rachel Brosnahan for 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel',  Quinta Brunson for 'Abbott Elementary', Kaley Cuoco for 'The Flight Attendant', Elle Fanning in 'The Great', Issa Rae in 'Insecure', and Jean Smart for 'Hacks'. Melissa Fumero and JB Smoove will announced  the nominees this time around.

Gomez's snub comes on the back of the show being renewed for Season 3. In a statement, Craig Erwich, President of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment said “Its appeal across generations, the intersection of humor and heart, and its truly original approach are a hallmark of and testament to Dan, John, Steve, Marty and Selena’s work. We are grateful to be able to continue telling the stories of Charles, Oliver, and Mabel to viewers that have consistently shown us they crave more of this story.”

It wasn't exactly a pleasing list for the fans. "not selena gomez and mandy moore getting snubbed of an emmy nom," one of the fans wrote. This was seconded by another who wrote, "Replying to@TelevisionAcad@RachelBros and 7 others WHERE IS SELENA GOMEZ?" Another opined, "Selena Gomez and Jessica Chastain got snubbed, but Inventing Anna did really good #FilmTwitter #emmys2022." This was echoed by another who wrote, "ugh i’m so mad about selena gomez and mandy moore getting snubbed. they deserved those noms!!"

"Why is Selena Gomez not nominated? Nominated both the actors but not the heart of the show Selena Gomez? #onlymurders she impressed me," the rants continued. "The fact that Martin Short and Steve Martin are both(!) nominated for Only Murders in the Building but Selena Gomez isn't does not sit right with me," a fan remarked. "Some excellent shows nominated for #Emmys today and I know people are mad about Selena Gomez, but she'll be fine. Please, fire up Hulu, and start watching RESERVATION DOGS," a tweet read.

The 74th Emmy Awards will air on NBC and stream on Peacock on September 12. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards will air on September 10 on FXX.
