Emmy Awards 2018: Merritt Wever drops an F-bomb before celebrating her 'unexpected' second win

Anything and everything is possible at the Emmys 2018, including an unexpected F-bomb when the Emmy winner is announced.

Actress Merritt Wever has just picked a trophy, her second Emmy award, in the category of outstanding supporting actress in a limited series or movie for her performance as Mary Agnes McNue in Netflix's 'Godless'. But from her unexpected reaction, it seems like Wever didn't see the big win coming her way tonight.

Just as her name was announced, the 'Nurse Jackie' star was caught mouthing the words 'Oh f**k' on camera before quickly shielding her mouth with her hands.

The  38-year-old actress was pitted against Penélope Cruz (The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story), Adina Porter (American Horror Story: Cult), Letitia Wright (Black Mirror), Sara Bareilles (Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concert) and Judith Light (The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story) in the category. This is her second Emmy award - she previously picked a trophy for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series in 2013 for 'Nurse Jackie' - and third nomination.

Once on stage, though, Wever appeared much more composed as she accepted the honor with a short and almost self-deprecating speech.

“I hope you don’t mistake my fear for a lack of gratitude,” she began, adding on a note of humor. “I came prepared and it’s bombing already. I wanted to be a grown-up about this.”
