'Emergence' Episode 7: Now that Piper's truth is out and Mia is gone, will the AI become evil or turn to Jo for guidance?

Being an ever-developing AI, Piper learns and evolves throughout her life, and she is certainly learning what it is like to be a kind and caring human, like her foster mother Jo

ABC's 'Emergence' is one of the most thrilling sci-fi shows of all time, giving us new twists and mysteries with each passing episode. However, the most recently aired Season 1 Episode 6 of the series, titled 'Mile Marker 14' may have given us the biggest shocker of them all — Emily (Maria Dizzia) is a bad guy!

She has been playing the scared, hunted scientist on-the-run stereotype since we met her, but she has finally shown her true colours as the mastermind behind Piper (Alexa Swinton).

In the previous episode, Jo (Allison Tolman) and Benny (Owain Yeoman) met the man who created the AI, and with his help put Kindred (Terry O'Quinn) behind bars.

However, it turns the danger is not yet over, especially because the person they should have been fearing is the woman they were protecting. Towards the end of the previous episode, Emily revealed herself to Piper in an alternate reality and told Piper in an ominous tone that they were going to have fun.

Piper is currently hurting because Mia (Ashley Aufderheide), whom she has come to love as her own sister, is forced to move out of her home and into her father Alex's (Donald Faison) home.

Mia had even been guiding her on how to control her powers and focus while doing it, but Alex has now found out that Piper has supernatural powers. However, because Jo refused to tell him anything further, he decides to take Mia to live with him in order to protect her.

Jo is helpless because she is unable to guarantee her daughter's safety, and Piper is sad because she believes that whatever has happened is all her fault.

Being an ever-developing AI, Piper learns and evolves throughout her life, and she is certainly learning what it is like to be a kind and caring human, like her foster mother Jo. She is loving and adorable, but we fear that Emily's proximity may change her perception of the world.

Emily could very well turn her against the rest of the world and make her evil and dark. In the upcoming episode, we will see Emily demanding love from her "daughter" Piper. Hopefully, she will not be successful in changing her.

Jo came to Piper at a time when she had no one, so we still like to think she remembers that affection. And now, she has even agreed to live away from her daughter so that she could keep Piper safe.

The next episode may see Piper having to choose between Emily and Jo, but the wait for that to happen is pretty long, considering ABC is not airing a new episode of Emergence on Tuesday night this week. Episode 7 of 'Emergence' will air on November 19 on ABC instead.
